Why is it upside down and reversed?

Just wondering why, on the main screen, The image of Earth is upside down and reversed. The upside down part can be easily explained due to orientation, but the reverse image puzzles me.

It's an old graphic design trick called "Dude! I ain't got the time! Besides, they won't notice... for a while." ;)

If, on the other hand, it was supposed to be Earth, there's an administrative curse called "SNAFU".

If, on the other other hand, it does have a special meaning, I wouldn't know.

LOL If I were a photoshop god, I'd make a mod that changes that pic up with maybe a pic of Alderan and have it line up properly.

It's earth seen from the vantage point of the space station which is oriented upside down. That's our story and we're stickin to it................The Graphics design team.

No no no . . . it's a middle earth issue. Thats why it seems to be inside out! Because if middle earth was really on the inside there'd be no room to . . . um . . . move, hence our senses logically can only be um . . . . . nobodies gonna buy this are they. I think I'll just give up . . . :notsure:

It's because of the reflection on the monitor screen! Sort of like a mirror!

You might have your graphics card plug in upside down... LOL

An actual plausible answer might be that you're looking at the earth through a reflecting telescope. Many astronomical telescopes use sets of mirrors to collect and focus light, which, depending on the specific type of telescope, can lead to upside-down and mirror-reversed images. Indeed these types of telescopes are more common than the lens-based refracting ones that most people are more familiar with.

Real coastlines, continents and seas makes it look like a real planet. The unfamiliar orientation makes it look like an alien one!

....

The title of this thread is reminding me of an amusing piece of (relatively) ancient computer history.

The Commodore 64 version of the old platform game Karateka fit on a single sided double density 5 1/4 in. floppy disc. The disc used was a double sided double density disc, so they threw a rather amusing easter egg in. The disc was formatted as two single sided discs, the graphices code was rewritten, and an exact copy of the game with the new graphics code was put on the back side of the disc.

If you put the disc in the computer upside down, the game played... upside down.

And I thought this might have been about the build notifications at the begining of the turn.

Have to deal with the same planet screen too many times every time something is built. The notifictions on the right are enough. I don't need the planet screen poping up and requiring me to hit the "next" button, in addition to the build notifications.

Are you already turning on "Active Gov ignores GNN" in the options screen, couslee?

Are you already turning on "Active Gov ignores GNN" in the options screen, couslee?
End of quote

Active Gov ignores GNN: off
Is that the problem?

I noticed that sometimes the Gov will replace social build items, and sometimes not. When adding a new item to the queue. I think if the new item is highlighted when you close the Gov screen it will change it, and it don't when you make sure it is not highlighted. Further testing needed to be sure though. Making sure it is not highlighted has worked so far with it not changing the item.

"Active Gov ignores GNN" - On will not cause your planet screen to pop up for planets with things to build based on its governor.

That's what I think it does but I've just checked the manual and the instructions there are rather unclear.

I believe the option "Gov. overrides projects" will determine if the governor will override your current social project once you add a new item to the Governor.

Maybe you can test and let us now.

Thats the thing, I have that turned off too. Which is why I mentioned the oddity. Will check it out in my current game, and see if I can establish a pattern/re-creatable incident.

I think I will test it with the GNN off (currently), then again after that. Only realy takes a couple of reloads to test the theory out.

Tested it all ways. GNN has no impact. "active govenor overrides projects: off" appears to be broke. bug posted.
