GCCG (v2.00) AVAILABLE!!!

YES! You read it right! The GCCG is now available, hosted by my site, all made by me :)

It really is a crappy site :notsure:, until I learn how to do graphics for a nice interface, but it gets it's point across.

The GCCG (and a G.R.O.S.S. portal)

The alignment is DEFINATELY making a difference, Mad Prophet. Winning TOO quickly can be a problem and IMHO relates to how good a start you get. No need to colony rush like mad; usually 3-5 decent planets is all you need.

alex - thanks for the response - you're my kind of guy ;) :D LOL

Perhaps, I'm trading too much tech because usually only 1 AI recovers(if any) and that is near the end anyway. I'm going to go reread the GCCS.

In my last game I got 9 stars in the colony rush. I had been playing evil(me) against pure evil(all). Since I am playing at 1.05 am I losing points by not playing the 1.09 beta?

I think you're losing points because you're evil. Try playing evil against all Pure Good. But I think the most points come from you Good vs. AI Pure Evil

Those +49% PQ bonuses are soooo nice though.

EBZ,

A question about your guide. You mention that you ctrl-N to get a good starting position. I have done that a time or two as well to get nice planets nearby. My question revolves around whether it is perhaps also good to get a center of the universe starting position? I have in the past been trying to get at least 1-2 uninhabited yellows near a corner or at least on an edge. But, thinking about things, if I take a center starting position, I'll encounter the others faster(perhaps). What do you think? I guess I'm not sure how influence works. Is it throughout the galaxy or just in neighboring sectors to where your planets are? I know wonders are different. Comments?

Important for tech-whoring and cash raping.

or just in neighboring sectors

It appears to be distance related to your stars.

Under no circumstances should you go evil vs all pure good. It generated about half the score as a good vs pure evil.

Possibly. the tech tree is faster in 1.09. thus, the game goes faster. If you aren't quite getting through it, You'll get further with 1.09 and thus more points.

I have yet to get through the tech tree. I got pretty far once or twice.

I usually am evil again pure evil. Maybe that's why I'm chaotic evil. :D

Then you are losing points since you would be further through the tree in 1.09 than you are in 1.05

I'm still on 1.05.

Also one more thing...

The GCCG was to crank out the most games possible, in the shortest time possible (i.e. 15 min).

Designed for quantity over quality.

Hello,
I tried EB's "super fast" tactics. Small/Sub-Normal/Common. It sort of worked. I won in about an hour but couldn't get to the end of the tech tree. All the civs flipped. Didn't have any cultural starbases. I had one Influence starbase in my home sector.
Did what you said, and it worked well. Sold tech for money, and kept the other civs broke the whole way through. I had one battleaxe (from my Survey Ship) for the whole game and had the highest miltitary rating all the way through (didn't sell them 1D Phasing or any techs that boosted their attack rating). Couple of them got Pre-Cursor Rangers and were still behind.
Is there a way to stop them flipping. (I turned off all Winning conditions so won via Mil Victory without firing a shot, or having a ship apart from the battleaxe). Was the Influence starbase a bad move?
Got about 6K score. Good laugh to play though!

I never build SB's

Never hurts to sell them everything....that's what is effective, and that's what I state in the GCCG

LOL. That's the whole point, finishing the game as fast as possible.

Jeff,

Stopping them flipping too soon is a problem. As EBZ says, don't build ships at all. Don't attack anything. Sell them everything, again and again. It wont matter. Be very careful, towards the end of the research tree, not to go back and build wonders that INCREASE YOUR INFLUENCE too early. Finish researching Final Frontier first, then go BACK and build Galactic Monument, Galactic Guide Book, Historical Preserve, and so on. Finish the research FIRST, then switch back to social spending, build your influence wonders, and flip them all to blazes! Good luck, mate!

Build an on/off switch.

If you're really having a problem with flips, take 3 turns to build some constructors, send em to the far corner with a planet or so of enemies, and give them a culture base. This will keep them from flipping till you choose to buy it back, thus winning exactly when you choose.

Just remember on small/beginner limit your initial grab to 5 systems. in about 2 sectors. Then you can do all this without culture flipping the last bunch till you get through and you don't need a base to save em.

If the planets flip to you before you want them, just build some culture resist improvements and give them back :P
