Mod the ships name

Is it possible to mod the default ships name? I find it pretty ridiculous to have a ship come out in the form "USS Battleship". What i find ridiculous is the USS part. Why on earth a Terran alliance ship would have a USS (united states ship >:( ) on it. I understand this is cool for you US dudes, but its not for me. What fun would you have if the ships came out with HMS (his majesty ship...) on them.

How do i change it? If possible of course...

I don't think you can change the ship prefix automatically. The most you can do now is to change them manually by clicking the ship name on the main screen ship details box.

BTW, USS in the game stands for United Star Ship, IIRC.

If you have GalCiv Writer, and know a little about modding, you could check the English.str file, and search up "USS". There might be a string in there that has that value.

Lol, why is it so? So that it resembles the USS on american ships? I think that is total crap.

This has been discussed before, and I think that it was pointed out at the time that United Star Ship came from the Star Trek universe.

Yes i know. Its just funny that that little piece of american anti-URSS propaganda of the 60´s lives on...

The idea was that, in the peak of the space race, the US would get there first. The united star thingy was just a smoke screen :D

Anyway, can someone point me out what i need to change? i did not find any USS entry in english.str file

Hmmm...actually, I think there was no "anti-USSR" propaganda there. How do you explain crew members from every country, including Chekov? Rodenberry was notoriously pro-peace (as evidenced by the many episodes concerning peaceful resolutions to the conflict). His United Star Ship idea was based on the idea that the Earth finally achieved a true worldwide peace.

If it bugs you that much, why not just change every ship name? I don't think it's that much of an issue with everyone else. :notsure:

Yes, worlwide peace under the US. Chekov was a russian but a secondary underling.
Anyway, i can change each ship that comes out, but that is tedious, i want a more final change. I've seen similar threads in the past but they don't go nowhere. Maybe the Human ships names are buried somewhere in the code?
