Got an Anomalous game without using a mod

Has anyone else gotten an anomalous game without using mods? I got one this morning and the game wasn't much different than my last game which was fine. I've been using the beta 3 without any problems. Here's the only things that I think could have caused it.

1. I tried out the Star Wars mod, but I uninstalled it before I started this game and after the last game I submitted successfully. I still see the remnants of the Star Wars logo in the Main Menu for some reason, but the mod only changed graphics and sounds.

2. I had my first blue screen crash with GalCiv while playing this game. I was using Media Player to play music and one time while I was on the diplomacy screen it gave the blue screen with no driver or program listed that caused the fault.

3. Twice in a row at the end of the game the Yor got the message where it increases the PQ of nearby uninhabited planets by X classes. The second one didn't seem to do anything since there were still class 13 & 14 planets in the area of affect, but the highest PQs were in the 30s so that shouldn't cause an anomalous.

Besides that I didn't do anything weird. I disbanded a whole bunch of stuff towards the end since I couldn't afford the maintinence fees. I reloaded the oldest savegame I had for it and then played till the end, but I still got anomalous when I resubmitted it. So what should I do? Send the EndGameSave to someone at Stardock?

Decided to bump this up...

Is anyone seeing more anomalous games with beta3 and you didn't mod the game? Frogboy replied to my email saying that he thinks the lowering of the tech costs might be causing this. I played that game sorta following EBZ's GCCG. I researched myself every tech and only traded tech for cash. This meant I was always at 100% with a ton of research. Maybe it thought I cheated by getting some of the later techs for real cheap since each tech you research lowers the cost of the remaining techs plus beta3 lowered the tech cost a little too. Any thoughts?

I think the tech premium makes it more expensive to research other techs for each tech that you research. The beta change basically reduced this premium from 3% to 2%.

I could of sworn it brings the cost down. Like when you're first given the chance to research Dreadnaughts it may take 40 turns. If you research everything in the order of shortest turns to finish, then by the time you get to Dreadnaughts it will take like 4 turns to finish. That's what happened in that game.

After those turns where you spend researching the loads of cheaper techs, your economy, research, morale, etc would have been boosted by those bonuses given through those cheap techs and also through the natural growth of your population.

I believe that's what is creating this phenomenon. What you should check is the amount of research in the expense panel that you are pumping in per turn.

You're seeing a side effect of your increasing abilities and population. The tech's actual costs are increasing by about 2% per tech you research. Theoretically, you'd get through faster researching the most expensive tech and going back up the list, but the speed your stats increase would be slowed at first, and you'd probably lose before you reach the balance point.

Another anomalous score for me tonight. Played a 1.05 game w/o mods. That is like two in three days. This is getting rediculous. I'm starting to get frustrated.

I supposed you have tried resubmitting. How about sending the savegame to Stardock support?

I sent off an email to the [email protected] account. Is this the right place Ray? No, I have not resubmitted either a second time because I heard that you may only do this twice and I wanted to wait until I heard from them to say it's ok to submit. If this is the wrong procedure, please help Ray. I've lost two scores already(actually three, but that was before I realized that downloading the mod was cheating(my second game)).

thanks,

B

I believe support can be reached at [email protected]

Do a resubmit. That's the first thing they will advise you anyway. We have a few folks who had anomalous scores fixed after they resubmitted.

Ok, I'll try to resubmit then. Following that, i'll contact support.

thanks Ray,

Ray, I resubmitted the one from tonight and it posted correctly. Thank you. Now I have a question about the other one before I repost it. I did the other one on my computer at work. I emailed the save game home in case I needed to email it to someone at Stardock(I was hoping they answered my email(to the other address I mentioned above). Should I try to submit it here or wait until tomorrow and do it at work? I don't want it to record as anomalous again because I switched computers when I recorded from time one to time two. Or maybe this doesn't matter?

It doesn't matter where you submit it from, B. So go ahead and resubmit the other one.

I guess I didn't email everything I needed. I loaded the game and it was an empty shell. I went out to the directory and noticed that not only was there a save file, but a whole save directory as well. But, I suppose that you already knew that. I guess I'll just have to resubmit tomorrow. Thanks again Ray.

Yeah, I was wondering you copied eveything over but I thought you knew. You must copy over the name.sav and the /name folder in galciv/data/savegames.

Ray,

I successfully resubmitted the second anomalous game here from work and it worked like a champ. Picked up 63 more ranks. You're the man.

EBZeroMatrix's strategy may cause anomalous scores because of the massive amounts of money that you end up with.  I suggested to EB that a good modification to the strategy would be to spend more money, by purchasing, and putting money into propaganda, destabilization. and espionage.  This would keep treasury levels down.

Um wow Cari...

I ended my last (just a few mins ago) with an ugly amount of cash (something like 200k) and got a 13k score.

I would say that I am just lucky, but OTOH I am now getting severe CTD problems which I never had before. If you are monitoring this thread, I will tell you positively that the CTD is *directly* connected to the yearly report. This may have been said before, but I am unaware of it, feel free to ask me any details.

Just had a successful submission with a game where the treasury broke 1/2million. So it's not just that!
