Why do I suck?

just keep pluggin' away - you superior intellect will eventually prevail. there are some great strategies in the forum threads, and also an 'unofficial' GalCiv strategy guide is available for download that i can highly reccommend. go for it!

Try to set your military bars 100 at the beginning of the game to build colony ships then grab as many yellow stars as possible. Then try to set your tech bars 100 to get basic nessecery techs then set social bars to 100 to catch up with social projects by the time you do this your budget would be anywhere between 100 to -100 then you might want to settle your bars like 35-35-30 or 40-40-20 or 50-30-20 or whatever you like.

This pattern always worked with me so far.

Thats the secerat to get started... use speed bonus and range bonus's to get to as many systems before the computer does.. (Only colonize 1 planet(above pq of 14) / system untill you've been to all the systems you can get to. set military to 100% to get your colony ships out as fast as you can

That they are ahead is really an indication that you are ahead. You've grabbed planets, which will quickly develop and then put you ahead when it counts.

Don't worry, I always thought that when I was starting. In the end, you'll always become more powerful.
