United Planets membership two questions?

Can you return to the United Planets after you separate yourself from them?

Why the United Planets laws affect your civilization after you have departed from the United Planets?

Example of the second question is this: I left the United Planets after they established the rule about the 4 modules in the starbases, I broke off from the United Planets and I still could only establish 4 modules in my starbases, why?

I have been under the impression that if you leave the UP, you are not bound by their laws anymore.
Huh, I'll have to check that now.

Thanks for bringing this up.

I'm not sure if you can rejoin after you leave. I've never left before.

It would be kind of cool if, once you left the UP, you could then build trade goods that other races had beaten you to... after all, you're not following their laws, why should you respect their patents?

Exactly my opinion, as also be able to build good and evil technologies, and even maybe technologies only available if you are not member of the UP.

Maybe doing that sort of thing would get all the remaining UP members to ally and declare war on you :)

Good that way I can use my bublestormlightsabertooth weapon and wipe them out in one turn. >:(

Having the ability to ignore patents would be a good counterpoint to the fact that, if I'm not mistaken, you can't use trade routes if you quit the UP.

Of course if you were able to rejoin the UP, there would have to be something to penalize you, such as losing any TGs/wonders that were gotten first by another race, or having to pay massive licensing fees for them :p

Yes I agree with you, maybe in the future expansions this issue could be consider.
