Planetary Dependent Funding...

Perhaps I haven't figured it out yet (the manual wasn't to detailed), but is there a way to have a planet just build ships or tech? The way it seems now we have a galactic slider that puts all planets on the same funding level, but often I have ship improvements on just a couple of worlds and would like to devote their funding to building ships while other planets do research.

If there is no way to do this now, perhaps it could be added in the expansion?

A related question is: when funding for building is allocated but a planet is not building in that que what happens to those resources? It seems like they are just wasted. If this is correct, can it be changed such that planets not using alocated resources put those resources back in the pool to go to planets that have something in that que?

Hope these aren't nOOB questions, if so be kind.

Not yet. It has been a topic of discussion. I beleive that there will be sliders for the governers that will override the galactic sliders. YMMV, IANADeveloper.

Answer 1. There are no planetary specific sliders
Answer 2. If you aren't producing something at a planet, it's wasteage. Lost. Poof. Gone.

The problem is complication. Remember, most of the tbs games I've played have only one thing at a time produced. This game has two. It gets into imo mega complication allowing planetary specific sliders in this instance. But IMO, the extra micromanagement would not be worth me being able to adjust them. Most people that want to adjust them want to adjust their outer planets toward military and visa-versa. But if you really think about the theme of the game, should outer planets recently colonized immediately be able to churn starships out at the enormous rate we want them too without adjusting military spending empire wide? IMO no. It makes for more strategy this way.

And now for a noob question. What's a noob?

Or better yet. Have Governors with preset sliders. that come to work for ya. You could behead em, fire em, but not change their slider bars. HEHE. You'd have to hope to get the right one. or 4. And the limit of course should be about 3 or 4 of them.

PontiusBruinPilot: I don't think anyone wants to be able to have a recently colonized planet cranking out military at an enormous rate, unless by enormous rate you mean "as fast as it can now."

On the once-stickied thread discussing this, I was strongly opposed to any of the ideas that transfered manufacturing capacity from one planet to another. Funding, sure, but not capacity.

I don't see a problem with a new colony dedicating itself exclusively to social or military development. It's a new colony, the focus is going to be on doing whatever is necessary to bring the colony up to speed.

I do agree, however, that sliders shouldn't be pushed down any farther than the govenor level, I don't want to have to micromanage every planet. Which I'd still probably wind up doing, but by switching govenors several times during a colony's life span.
