Pirated Galciv game

Well, after talking to the guy I bought Galciv off of Ebay I have realized for sure it is a burned copy >:(

What is the best way I can contact stardock and give then the email address of the person selling illegal games?

Does anyone know of how to contact ebay also? I have looked but am having a hard time finding an email address.

With stardock's distribution concept there's a certain difficulty with reselling stuff you bought from them; the only thing that makes your copy a legitimate one might be the Stardock/drengin.net account. Remember that you don't have to buy the CD...

So it would be interesting to know the official position on this.

There's a contact us reporting link right on the front page of ebay.

As to Stardock, the best way is to load stardock central, go to chat. Once there hit /join #stardock
and you'll usually get a tech. It's an irc channel. They'll tell you what to do there.

Not being a stardock official, I cannot speak for them. But when they have stated their position, it's gone something like this.

They support and guarantee new purchases only. They can't guarantee or support resales. It's up to the buyer to make sure the seller is selling a legit copy with a code and to get that seller to transfer his account to you to participate in the meta and get updates and stuff.

Cypher Pack? How did you pay for this purchase.? If you used a credit card, you can stop the payment. Call your credit card company and tell them the merchandise was fraudulent and why.

I got it through ebay. My biggest mistake was I tried to deal with the person that sold it to me and wasted too much time trying to correct the problem.

Follow the direction on the Ebay fraudlent activity reporting checklist. You can even contact your local law enforcement agency, and they tell you how. You still have things you can do to try and get your money back. I used the Ebay fraud reporting once, with good results.

Umm I hold my hands up here aswell, but I downloaded it first. For the sole use for my own personal trail, but now have bought a legally copy, since its in the shops. About bloody time too, was sick of waiting for it.

Least i'm honset, and i do like this game. Now just have to get to grips with other parts of SD

P.S I would like to save my games prior to reinstalling the original, what do i need to back up. Thanks in advance, and thanx for this MOO3 beater

I purchased my copy of GalCiv from the web site and downloaded it. If I were to resell it, the only way I could do so would be to burn the install on a CD.

I'm not saying that's what this individual did, but it certainly is a possibility.
