possible to turn a civ capital?

I'm currently at war with the Drengin. They had a few expansion systems but I took over most of them except one. He has made that system, Acelloria, his capital. (Cheese for the AI. Human player can't move the capital.)

Acelloria is surrounded. Although he still has 14 systems under his control, I control every planet and starbase around his so-called 'capital' system for 9 sectors in every direction including a nice planet right in the same sector and another system in an adjacent sector. The influence in the Acelloria sector is 913 Terran to 470 Drengin, and as a result Acelloria has had the skull-and-crossbones icon attached to it for almost a year now.

Either they are having very nice luck with their saving throw each turn, or there might be some rule about not being able to turn a system with the capital icon on it.

Will this planet turn to my control eventually, or will I be forced to invade it due to the 'capital' symbol on it?

You can convert every system any empire owns.
Some systems do have a high resistence to it but
none are immune. Just takes longer with some.

Thanks. In that case I will observe some additional patience. Acelloria is doomed. No reason for me to waste energy invading it. They will fall to the Dark Side one way or the other.

Yep, I make whole empires cave by flips and surrenders while having only a very small amount of warfare. Just that the Drengin capital is always hardest to flip in my experience. I am finishing a game now where I disabled culture victory. There is only two minor civ planets left and the Drengin throne. It is already failing saves. Might take a couple of game years, but it will flip. To think, I would have won ages ago with my usual culture victory (every sector is blue) if I had not disabled it, but I am trying for a different kind of win.

Is it defended? It's harder to turn a defended world, although still possible. In addition, by default the Drengin are evil; perhaps they've got Secret Police, Re-education Centers, Pain Amplifiers and their ilk, to increase cultural resistance.

At Normal, I did end up converting just about the entire Drengin empire, including their capital, but then again I had three Party Palace Terror Stars roaming their sectors, often two in one sector at the same time... ;)

heh, something just doesn't sound right with 'Party Palace Terror Stars'. ;)

I mean, if a gigantic alien 'party palace' floated into Earth's orbit one day, I highly doubt I would voluntarily decide to reject my humanity and everything and convert to that alien race. LOL

Yeah, it's a rather comical concept. "Enjoy our frighteningly good party... or DIE!" It does work, 'tho, and can nicely boost a cultural win if that's what you're going for.

Man, that sounds so evil. "Hi, we're from the alien base ship hovering around your solar system. You can either all be blown to bits by our planetary destructo ray, or join us for a wild good time of murder and mayhem. Of course, we will be having the most fun while most of you guys will be our victims, but a select few of you who show enough potential can move on up to be associate tormentors rather than being the victims. Afterall, it is better to be the Devil's right hand than to burn in his oven. We will give you one rotation of your homeworld to decide."

Oh, the depravity of it all! :D
