umm, okay. ive found it. hehe. thx.
i guess my score has been lowered because it was achieved using an outdated version of the game?

Morbutor:

1.05 actually isn't that bad scoring-wise except at the top levels, where the new versions have an edge.

You can push your scores higher by "completing" things. If you're winning before you get past Dreadnoughts, great job, but the scoring system rewards people who play a "rich and full" game.

If you plan to go for a Military victory, turn off all of the other victory conditions on the game setup; this lets you research all the techs and build all the wonders BEFORE taking out those last few planets. I usually leave "Alliance Victory" available too, as it gives me a safety valve if I'm getting demolished.

okay, ic.

however that would not suit my approach to the game.
i try not to gain the highest score, i try to do good in-game. if that isnt rewarded, okay. so be it.
if the opportunity arises to win a game, i will take it. im not a perfectionist; i play for fun. :)

researching stuff even tho it is not necessary in-game is actually not an option for me -- hope that doesnt disqualify me a a member of the Jedi Republic.

:sniff!:

Morbutor,

No problem - play for your own enjoyment. You'll notice that most of my scores are under the 10K threshold, even on Large. That's because I don't "finish" things, either - when it's over, it's over. With 10 submissions, I've only finished the tech tree once, and that was as an experiment.

BTW, nice job on stepping up the difficulty quickly in your games.

thx, but i must admit that ive been playing about 5 games on version 1.0 -- about half a year ago.
im german which means no credit card unless you earn alot. and i dont.
thus i couldnt buy the game (it is of course my duty and obligation to support good games, so i really tried to buy the game ;) )
but most recently it had finally hit the stores. what a delight :)

im about to finish another painful game. only toridians (sp?) and altarians left. thus no war.
so i had to finish the tech tree, since they were militarily strong. i didnt dare to try to assimilate them cultural wise. been producing ships (my economy could afford it).

but now ive completed the tech tree. how to win a tech victory?

Morbutor,

To get a tech victory, just research until you hit the end - I think that's it. If you disabled "Tech Victory" on the game setup screen, though, that option isn't available any more. Looks like you might have to just ally with them both to get an Alliance win.

or i might merely have to end the turn after having researched everything.
lets see ...

edit: yep, had to end the turn -- problem solved :)

theres one more. but i lost it. the torians and the arceans have both surrendered to the machines.
i was like "what the fuck (may i say this?) is going on here. bloody treason!!"
i mean, they surrendered to the machines that battled them? the machines whos goal is to annihilate every organic life form.
right ... madness.

i struggled on, but eventually failed -- not without a glorious gotterdammerung, tho.
