n00b alert

"Sir, our sensors have detected an incoming object..."
"What is it?"
"Its a a n00b, sir"
"Dear god, deploy the terror stars"

Hi there

As you've probably guessed i'm new to GalCiv, only played a few games, but actually only completed 1 proper game and got an utterly terrible score, yay me.
Been looking around these forums and playing for a few days now, the strat forum has been helpful for me, when i've been utterly confused about what i should do. Some interesting and fun topics all round the place.

I'm not one particularly fond of posting on forums, however if you'll accept me, i'd be happy to join into the GalCiv community.

Hm, enough drivelling on about me, was just meant to be a basic hello, ah well, must play some more.

PS: If er, introduction threads arent allowed here, then I apologise and please dont feed me to a space shark.

PPS: I sound like an idiot sometimes.

Welcome to our community, RoboJoe! :)

Feel free to ask questions both here and in the strat forum. No questions are too dumb.

For even more fun and enjoyment here, join an empire.
(Try the Fellowship, I hear they are an interesting bunch of people. :P)

RoboJoe, welcome to the Community. Stick around, have some fun. Remember, there are no dumb questions, just people to feed to the Death Furnaces.

Ray, why would the Fellowship need anyone other then you? ;)

We need all the help from unaligned star pilots out there to beat back the space pirate scourge. ;)

I'd been more helpful if I hadn't gone off for awhile doing other things (RL). Used to rank #12 in points on the Empire scale, back before RL happened. ;)

I hear I can rack up a lot of points for just a couple of hours play. If that's true... why doesn't the fellowship just get a few of its members to waste a couple of hours a night and bury the pirates? ;)

I guess most of my members have lives to live. As for me, I'm already playing 24/7. ;)

Sheesh, why are we winking repeatedly at each other? LOL

You are most welcome to join us you know, SP. We like members who are active contributors to the game and forum, points are secondary.

It's cause the other thread about Maso scoring. Lots of interesting ideas in that thread, eh? Could use a few ;) and :) in it I think.

Thanks for the invite. I'll consider it.

You don't sleep? Obviously, you can only do 20/7. :D Although I might be able to code up a bot to play Tiny/Maso games and submit their wins. Then, it would be 24/7. ;p

Exactly how do i join though, do i have to apply to someone and show how good i am or something? (Which i'm not)
Just confused by the whole thing really, took me long enough to gain a basic understanding of what to do in GalCiv, heh, now i must understand Empires.

Look at empiring as a fun side-show to the game (for some it's become the main show :)), RoboJoe.

Joining most empires is just a simple click of a Join Button on their empire pages.
U don't have to prove anything. Even folks with zero points can join empires.
However, some empires have specific requirements, such as the Evil Empire which bakka is part of.
An empire is basically a sub-community within our big Galciv community.

No need to rush about joining empires. Play more, read the forum/empire posts and decide later.

RoboJoe, Star Pilot, and anybody else looking for info on empires:

GalCiv empires give another aspect to the game - teamwork and cooperation. They're collections of players whose points are totaled for an Imperial score. Most empires have a thread or two here in the Forums where you can post questions about the game, short stories, links to websites, or most anything that strikes your fancy.

Here's a thread with a few "recruiting pitches" by some of the major empires, for quick reference:

http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?id=92520&BID=GF&page=1#96437

Feel free to look around the threads or even drop a line just to say hello. Anyone can post in an Imperial thread. As for joining, just go to the page for the empire in question and click the "Join Empire" button. Very few empires these days have any restrictions on joining, with the obvious exceptions of "Invite Only" empires and the Evil Empire.

If you change your mind, you can always leave at any time. Good luck and good gaming. And may the Force be with y'all.

Robo, may I point out, that those two top Empires, the Wedding rings and the Bag of bones are so far ahead and going nowhere.

For interest and fun, where your contribution will show some results, you need to join one of the smaller outfits, like....Tarrrah.... The Anzacs.
We are the most cosmopolitan continent, with people from all over the World.

Another thing that might be a factor in your empire decision is the story line of that empire. If you find wizzards and pirates not to your liking, there are other unique story line empires out there (ahem, like mine. lol).

And of course, you can always create your own empire.

Yes many empires exist only to battle for there Emporer and others exist for stories. Some have themes and others don't.Look around and read some posts from each. The PanGaea Coop is relatively new and looking for peaple to help spread our Terrorstar pleasure palace ways amongst any who care to listen or participate.Check out our site The Pangaea Cooperative and see if you like to add to the story or help bring culture to the buzzards in the galaxy that need it. :CONGRAT:

Wow, we've really rolled out the welcome wagon today!

Welcome aboard - when you get the time, check out a few of the empire threads. Be warned - a lot of them are very long, so you'll need a fair bit of time to actually read them. :)

Of course, if you enjoy a balanced mix of depravity and pleasure in your life, you really should consider the pirates. ;)

Why bother with pirates who very seldom shower or who have any time except for running from last raid on some poor unsuspecting freighter? The PanGaea Coop can satisfy any desire as long as you know what sin or pleasure you want. Our party palaces have the most modern conveniances known to modern man!! :CONGRAT:

No harm intended to any pirate! Please leave our freighters alone!!We all know life on the run is tough!
