Reassignment of rally points

I'm back after a 5 months break ( http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=50536 ) and was eager to test the expansion pack.
I am disappointed to see that the much awaited rally points cannot be relocated. In a huge or gigantic map, the tedious late game constructor management is then only slightly improved.
Could not that be easily implemented in a next version (as well as an auto-scout for ships) ?

I asked for this back when the beta was first released. To be able to relocate a rally point would be a huge time saver. Creating an new rally point and then updating all the planets and ships en-route to the new R.P. can be a bit tedious.

Welcome back!
If you've followed the forum debates you'll know that we euros will need all the help we can get if we're to catch up to the perfidious ANZACs :D

Thanks, Qui-Gon Jinn. I hope Frogboy will hear us.

Lord Orpon, yes I have read the European threads. I have a crippling / gigantic which looks promising ;) .
BTW, I forgot that my "player name" used to be different from my "nick" and I submitted my last score under my "nick", that's why my old 1.02 scores seem to have disappeared ... :SURPRISED:

not only reassigning, but looking at the ships assigned to them and some management tools like remove ship, eta, etc. Frankly I don't find them useful in their current incarnation.

I agree. I find it just as easy to right click the destination, then use that blue circle as the 'rally point' for other ships.

That would be great !

Another flaw:

You cannot simultaneously give new rally point destinations to a whole bunch of planets. You need to select each planet to change the rally point order.

In case someone dosen't know this, the fastest way (I know of) to reassign rally points is as follows:

+Bring up your planet list on the right-hand panel.
+Double click on the first planet to open the planet screen.
+Open the rally point assignment panel for the planet.
+Set the rally point.
+Leave the planet & rally point screens open and click on the next planet in the list.
+Set the rally point for the next planet.
+Click the 3rd planet... and so on.

Thanks Qui-Gon Jinn. ;)

There should be "global rally point swap" just like "global military swap".

OT, but another global function I would love would be a global "obsolete" social improvement function. I waste quite a bit of time destroying useless social improvements from AI planets that I captured. 10 improvements would mean 20 clicks and scrolling to destroy. Alternatively, it would be good if we could highlight a number of improvements and click once to destroy all of them in one go.

Ray I would be interested by some examples of what you call "obsolete social improvements". :notsure:

I referred to them as obsolete aka obsolete military ships but I was really talking about social improvements that I routinely destroy on AI planets.

Examples are all planetary defenses, omega stuff (with maint), cultural resist (spin control, news network, propanganda), virtual reality, neural net, shipyard improvements.

Thanks. I agree with you for defenses, shipyards, and purely cultural resistance improvements.
But many improvements have multiple benefits and one have to look if the useful ones are worth the maintenance.
And this depends on other factors such as your tech level, bonus stats, etc. (e.g. if your morale is already 100 everywhere, yes you can decommission a lot of things.)

Some morale buildings become obsolete once you get a high +morale racial ability, due to either resources or late-game techs.

Hmmm.... Just found out that I could scroll through rally points by hitting the [ & ] keys.

Thanks Qui-Gon Jinn, your method is handy (#8).
Not as handy as would be a proper relocation of the RP, but quite useful.
