Colonization events, Oliver syndrome

All other cheese aside, I REALLY like colonization events. And considering the impact of morality on the game, is there a mod that lets you have one any time you colonize a planet? I am not looking for special events, just more of the ones already in the game.
When first learning the game, I would use reload cheese to see what all the events were. After a while, I would cheese it up to get at least one event per star system (not per planet). Lately I have been trying no cheese games, and frankly, I find the number of events anemic. For example, in my last attempt, after colonizing over 20 planets, I only had 4 events. One was a nice +PQ, which I took, and all the other ones were only a +1 to morality. All the planets that I could reach during the colonization phaze had been grabbed. So IF I want to achieve a saintly rating, I will have to cheese the < PQ12 planets and destory the colonies. This, IMO, is just as bad a reloading.

Please Sir, may I have some more?

I've been told there is no such mod.

I agree on the need. Maybe an "event frequency slider" in the game setup screen.

This was requested during the chat. The response was that it would be difficult to balance the scoring aspect of this. Thus the only way I can see this being implemented is part of a cheat code.

In fact, it's a longstanding request from modders for a cheat code to force a certain event.

I guess therin lies the problem. I would not want to force any paticular event.

I don't see how scoring would be an issue, I don't think events are taken into account in the scoring anyway. Once a player reached the chosen morality, they could choose all the neutral choices. Perhaps a minor scoring penalty for making evil choices once morality was at zero, or scoring bonuses for good choices, once at 100. As it is now, I can B-line for demonic, and continue evil choices with impunity.

Would also be nice to see some balance in the events themselves. if the evil choice is going to cause a -10, then the good choice should mirror it with +10. I find it frustrating that a single >+10PQ event can take 10 good choices to overcome. And as it is now, you might never recover from the -10 morality hit because you just don't get enough events. (hence the wish for more.) Kinda makes ya wonder how much of this flavor of cheese is used on the pure evil/pure good players submitting scores to the meta.

I like the slider idea. Doesn't the demo have such a slider for the anomalies? iirc it did. Would be nice to see that re-implemented.

And I miss the "delete game" option on the menu.

The ability to switch morality easily and the benefits derived from choosing mulitple evil choices at demonic makes for an easier game. I don't see the latter as cheesy, the AI probably does the same.

I believe SD wanted to model it such that it is much easier to be evil than good. It shouldn't be that easy to pick all the juicy evil PQs then become Saintly just by choosing all the good choices afterwards. I think it's a good trade-off to consider - planetary bonuses or trade centre.

But all those good choices have an impact aswell. Taking a -25% hit to planetary production stings as much as a +PQ feels good. And when you consider the empire wide impact of a lot of planets with negatives the +PQ becomes much less attractvive (for me anyway). Even if a player wanted to play an honest saintly game (no evil choices at any time), it could be difficult to reach given the number of events VS the number of planets available to make that mark.

Yes, evil is a lot easier to obtain, because of the imbalance in the morality choices. "We don't do business with criminals" should give the same +morality bonus as the evil counterpart. imo :). Maintaining saintly is hard enough, all things considered

There are quite a few stock events in the game that give you a +1 morality on good choices. One thing you could do is to download event mods. I believe most of them have good choices that have high weightages.

I feel all scoring issues shouldn't prevent developping good concepts. There will be cheese, anyway. Look at people now submitting tiny maso games and getting 20k+ points. Tiny maso is easy, it's rewarded too much. Should tiny be removed from the game? No. Let us mod the game! I can cheese the game to get huge scores by changing 1 figure in one file and the metaverse wouldn't realize what I did (it didn't give anomalous score for the one I submitted to test). So, please, forget about the metaverse points, those who want points will pay in order to get them, those who want to play the way they like don't care, even if they submit some games, in case Stardock collects data from them.

Tiny maso is easy
End of quote

For you, it may be. But, the majority of Gal Civ players play at levels less than maso because maso is too hard. The new 1.1 maso tiny scores are somewhere in the huge/gigantic crippling range (20 to 25k). Personally, I find maso MUCH harder than sub-maso of any size because of the cash nerf and AI bonuses. My crippling, large game went anomalous because of a "too much money flag" so I finally moved to maso and it took repeated games at tiny to get the economy even a fraction of what I could achieve on sub-maso.

Like Ray, I am all for the cheat codes to be able choose more planet events if a player wishes. And like vincible, if the scoring could be balanced out, maybe sliders would work. But, I don't agree that maso is "easy" for most gal civ players - especially if you can't get diplomatic translators (like when the Yor made them in my 5th maso game).
