Dreadnought / Transport troops

Hello,

I thought I saw somewhere that you can use a Dreadnought to transport troops to a planet, but I cannot find a way to do this. I have already destroyed any defending ships, but I cannot transport troops from the Dreadnought. Did I mis-understand this somewhere?

Thanks,

The only ways of transporting troops are with the Transport, from Impulse Drive tech, and the Combat Transport, from Battleship tech--that is, unless you have mods adding new transports or adding transport ability to old ships.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I was referring to the technical specifications of the Dreadnought. If you look in your Technology Tree (within the program -- F6 key) and go to Dreadnought (by first clicking on the Archives button), it says something similar to:

"...This new weapon is equipped with even more powerful torpedoes, along with the recently developed transporters. Shuttles are no longer needed to transport people or materials from ship to surface. The transporters can teleport someone to any target that is..."

then the screen cuts off and there is no scroll option to read any further.

Maybe this isn't referring to troop transport, but if not, what is it referring to?

Thanks again,

It's referring to matter transporters. There is a transporter tech and improvement.

Well, the tech tree descriptions also state that colony ship speed is doubled (with impulse) and it also is not true, it only adds one movement point. Not an issue for me tho

There are lots of descriptions in the tech tree that are just for show, and don't really have anything to do with in-game abilities. Such as star creation tech, for example.
