Ther "where in hell are my graphic files" bug thread

Citizens of the galaxy, has this ever happened to you?! (arrr, it's Yom Kipur and I'm bored, so forgive the theatrics. The point I have to make is preety important).
I've been suffering from a nasty bug in the past few weeks and I wanted to know whatever I'm the only one. Every time I play a long game (always gigantic), with time some graphic files disappear. Like what? Well, maybe I'm missing the ship graphics so when I built it it's just empty space - the ship is there alright, but I can't see it or select it via the menu. The ship icon is also blank.
Another time it can be a planet picture of a certain class - and all planets of this class are simply empty spaces.
I know it sounds wierd, but the game works - it just doesn't display everything. If I exit the game and reload, everything is corrected. Still, annoying as hell and it always happens to me if I'm playing for more then 3-5 hours straight. Any solutions? Has this happened to you?
