I still think you'll get some recruits. Look how long it took Viraxian to get somebody!

Hey - I just found this thread! Good work Aldar! Can I suggest you rename your kingdom to: "The Hong Kong Cavaliers"? I LOVED that movie! LOL

Well, I nearly joined your empire purely on the grounds that it had a cute logo but the Pangaean philosophy of party palaces seduced me instead :) I'm sure you could come and join us though ;p

Aldar. Normally, I would hit on you to try and recruit you to the ANZACS as a mercenary.
But, I like your logo and the concept of going it alone, especially now you are regularly winning at Maso.

I like the name "Last kid picked". :D

In case you were wondering, the Kingdom is located in Northern Vermont, USA.

Last Kid Picked is actually the name of a local band. I asked them if I could borrow the name/logo for my sailboat boat - they are very entertained by the whole thing. That is where the little angry stick figure logo came from.

Just changed the Kingdom motto to "Last Kid Picked" LOL

I'm sure us pirates could be "caretakers" of that theme for a little while :p

Time to crank out a bunch of games to try to get into the top ten empires.

Well, I just joined because I couldn't leave a Red Sox fan on his own in this hour of need, thanks to the bizarre decision to keep in Pedro Martinez in the eighth.

Anyway, I was always the last kid picked too :)

My apologies if you want to remain on your own especially as my score won't help much as it takes me weeks to play one game!

Shouldn't have had such a good recruiting spiel ;)

Yaahhoooooooo!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the Kingdom!

Hey - commiserations to the BoSox! I'm an Aussie who loves baseball - just goes to show the manager shouldn't listen to the superstar, eh? Pedro will take some time to live that one down. I think everyone (excpet Yankee fans) wanted a Boston/Chicago series, just to see at least ONE curse broken....

Looks like my current game is going to take about a week to finish. Tried a slightly different strategy that is not working out so hot and I'm going to have to build a military and crush everyone. Definately need ot max out te diplomacy pick during setup for maso rather than speed.

What a bunch of goody, goodys we are

We just use evil as our puppet LOL

Whew! Finally finished that game. Bribed everyone into attacking each other and got their militaries down t othe point where they would ally with me.
Well done, my Lord :)

At the moment I have a mercantile empire with +20 trade, +40 influence and +10 to diplomacy so I've never used speed. Of course, I don't play on maso ;)

Will any of the changes coming up - starbase distance, removal of the 1 IP to keep aliens happy and so on effect your maso strategies?

The Metaverse Review is hot off the press:

http://metaversereview.joeuser.com

Headlines include:
~ Jedi Republic's Rise
~ Mid-Western Confed troubles
~ Weekly Spotlight Empire

And More!

I don't think so. I never build more than a couple star bases in a given sector and I've been using the 1IP bug for most of the games just to speed things up. I just played the last Maso game with settings such that I couldn't take advantage of the 1IP bug - still was able to win but got pretty bored building starbases and almost quit...

To be honest, I'm hoping that the new release scoring doesn't make it a requirement to play Maso to be competitive in the Metaverse. I kind of like the game balance a little better on Crippling, but had to switch to keep up :)

Pretty cool we got mentioned in the Metaverse Review. I bet no other Empire doubled the number of Overlords they have!

I agree with you.
It was Ray who created such a fuss to get Maso dominant.
Now he seems to be gone, perhaps we can get some sanity back.

Wish we could double our number of overlords. :)

Hi Rainbird,
How about helping us double the number of Overlords in the Kingdom again? ;)

just to see at least ONE curse broken....

I know plenty of people who would never want to see the Bambino curse broken. I'm one of them.

Stupid quote button won't work...

Seriously, is that just because you're a Yankee fan? I love baseball, but as an Aussie I really dont know the ins and outs of US baseball politics - can you educate me? Aussie sports lovers tend to have a soft spot for the 'underdog' in these situations....

You can add me to that list, Aldar. I shifted for much the same reason, and think the Metaverse was a more inclusive place with the old scoring structure. Oh, and watch that Rainbird.... ;p (I certainly love to)
