1000 battles

METAVERSE REVIEW EXCLUSIVE

As I was browsing thru the Metaverse today, I happened to notice that G.R.O.S.S. and MWC have over 900 battles. I guess it's time to open the betting on who will reach 1000 battles first.

The Fellowship is pretty far back at 880 now, so it looks like these two will be the ones to slug it out.

Many of the pirates are on vacation or busy with RL, so it's anybody's guess as to how this one will turn out.

Time to get recruiting then, it looks like... only one or two good, dedicated players is all it would take :D

MWC has taken a bit of a lead. The pirates seem to be kind of quiet here lately...

The Fellowship is actually gaining ground on G.R.O.S.S.

If not for mayito's defection, we'd be getting pretty close now... >:(

Is this really an accomplishment? Someone could always just start a game and then retire immediately. If it was someone who didn't plan on submitting any real scores that month, then they wouldn't be trashing their ranking.

Players in empires wouldn't dream of retiring. It would absolutely kill the empire's score, which is actually more important to many of us than our own!

No, it wouldn't kill the empire's score, because the scores are banded by month. If you had a player who wasn't very active in the current month, he could "take one for the team". It would only kill one player's score for one month.

Nonetheless it would take many retired games to get to 1k--the only way to do it without harming the empire or the player himself would be to figure out a 0-scoring player's email and player ID and submit the games under his name. And getting it like that just isn't in the good spirit of MV competition...

Sure it's not really a meaningful accomplishment, but nothing in the Metaverse is. It's just a big friendly competition where we all know that "winning" doesn't prove anything.

Well, things certainly changed in this race...

Current Standings:

1.)Mid-Western Confed....865 battles
2.)European Alliance....819 battles
3.)G.R.O.S.S..........808 battles
4.)Fellowship.........798 battles

Note: G.R.O.S.S. is subject to drop some when the rest of the Posse leaves.

So we're finally back on top, although we're still behind what we were since mayito took his many games when he left... but at least the other empires have dropped more :P
