Question for the Stat Junkies

I'm sure one you guys that has compiled all the terrific game aids and charts can answer this for me. When moving the to more advanced government types you automatically receive a +10 Diplomacy bonus. The game text for the gov. type also usually mentions something about increased economic power, but give no specifics. I could have sworn in eariler versions of the game it stated somewhere that you also receive a +20 Economic bonus. Is this no longer true or am I mistaken and there was never any such bonus? Is there no other bonus than the +10 diplo one to compensate for the described morale hit? Or is there no longer and type of morale (control) penalty either?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You get some sort of an economic bonus Haven't taken the time to figure out what though.
My Tax revenue goes up when I go to the higher forms. My net revenue ends up going down, however, because inevitably, my production settings use up more than the economic bonus in extra production and research. I am unsure whether there is an actual production and/or research bonus in there too or what's going on. It is a bit harder to maintain morale. One time, a planet went from 50 down to we want into the I-league territory afterwards, but to what extent the morale penalty actually is, I haven't figured out.

you stay in imperium the entire game

I did my first few games, because I was afraid I'd have morale trouble. It actually wasn't that bad. But I've learned to control morale a bit better now...

I don't know about what Pontius does, but I don't think it's a good idea to stay in Imperium. You raise more money and can spend more money in the higher forms. Even though the percent you can spend may go down, your overall economy is still increased by a transition to a higher form of government.

I think it went from 10%,20%,30%,40% respectively for each form of advanced government.I remember reading something like that in owners manual(pamphlet).

My impression with govts are +20% econ for each stage. There isn't any diplo bonuses IIRC.

You do get an overall economic bonus as vincible stated. What is happening is that your tax base goes up, but the spending capacity of the planets goes up as well. If you leave the spending set at the same rate, you perceives a loss of funds. You make more money, but spend even more as well. As for a diplomatic bonus, I have never looked to see if I got one, actually. So I do not know. There is only one definite advantage to sticking with the first form of government, actually. That is no one gets to vote to change the ruling party. For me, I'd rather take the extra economic muscle and take my chances with the voting.
