I've often dreamed of getting away from this country. What's it like for Americans in Denmark, The Netherlands, Canada, Australia, and the like? (the GOOD Americans like me, not the UGLY American) I mean job-wise, lifestyle, being accepted as a part of the community, etc.

I don't think that foreigners have trouble getting accepted in Denmark (I work with an American and she doing just fine), but i do think that are a bit more reserved :notsure: than alot of Americans (anyway more reserved than the people i have gotten to know in NY).

I've heard (No proof of course) that it is easier for US citizens to settle in Australia than it is for Australians to settle in the USA

bakka, I have heard that if you want to relocate to Australia, you have to have a sponsor (current resident). Not the case in the USA.

However, the good ole' USA has certain restrictions on some ppl even getting in. But not going into that. :MAD:

Being a full-blooded, born and bred American, I would have to say it's probably easier for anyone to move from and to anywhere else than America. We don't make things easy, we're very often rude to others, and our Government doesn't even want most of us here let alone people from somewhere else. :(
On a one to one basis, most Americans are pretty good people. Collectively, our country has a pretty high opinion of ourselves, and when you come here you're expected to "act American".
So many places seem so nice: OZ, Canada(but too cold for me :sniff!: ), Amsterdam (for hazy reasons :HOT: ), Asia. Someday I hope to visit them all! Oh, by the way, can I crash with you guys when I get to town? :CONGRAT:

Australia & US are similar in restrictions. But we don't ask questions like former communist party memebership or if you have belonged to a terrorist organisation!
