Found it out by accident. If your survey ship has no anomalies to investigate give it an auto-survey order anyway. Then give it an auto-pilot order to go somewhere unexplored. If it uncovers an anomaly along the way it will automatically drop out of auto-pilot and investigate. Sorry if this is old news to everyone.

Even if there are no more anomalies, just keep your autosurvey on and place your ship about the middle of the map, every time a new anomaly shows up your survey ship will go there first than anyone else.

Even if you're manually controling it when you see an anomaly in an unexplored area it'll wrest controll away from you and go after the anomaly if you still have it on Autosurvey

On Autosurvey, if your OTHER ships find a new anomoly, the Survey ships will take off for it.

All of this is very true, just don't forget: the auto-surveying ship will not react to enemies! So keep a careful eye on it. I've lost the Hero more than once because the auto-survey pushed it right into enemy hands. :SURPRISED:

Or, the auto-survey rolled it across an enemy ship. Whoopsie! It would be very nice if a ship on Auto (Survey or Pilot) asked if you wanted to attack that ship/shark/whatever.

Personally, I'd be happy if it had hard-coded cowardice and ran away from anyone who was a threat to it. Rather like workers in CivIII (if I dare mention my other favourite game ;-) )

Thanks for the offer and I'll consider it. Being evil helped make the win a bit too easy on Painful. I'm playing Crippling now and trying to be a model emperor but if it doesn't work out you'll be the first to know. :)

LoL. I too mingled with the good side. It didn't pay. You're always welcome to join us (you must be overall evil, tho) and know if you to change you're overall morality you will be kicked but not banned so you can rejoin. Its empire policy.
