The circular galaxy...!

Tell me if this a bad idea for an expansion pack.
Remember the old video game asteroids? When you went off one side of the screen you appeared directly on the opposite side....
Why not do this with Galciv? It would eliminate the concept of 'being stuck in a corner' and would definitely make the initial expansion phase more interesting.;) You would never be more than half a map away from any other point on the map. A bit like being in a circular galaxy, which is more faithful to cosmic geography :notsure: cosmography...
Influence and trade would be more interesting. You could decide to send a freighter by either the long route or the short route.
Hasn't anyone thought of this before? (I was initially think about substituting hexagons for squares in the map)
