Nice Bug? - Megacolonies

A few days ago i played Galciv in a gigantic galaxy, the game is at oct 2194, i have 36 colonies so far. one or two turns ago the UP granted me (as i have the largest pop) with a new colony (the precurser artefact that turns the world into a nice planet, i think). In one of the following rounds i noticed that all of my planets had been transformed, ranging from one 42 quality planet, a few between 35 and 38 and all the rest above 30!!

As it was quite late i was just about to finish the game, saved it and went to bed. The next day, when i had a look at it, i did not load the savegame but simply continued on the main screen. This way the planets are what they are supposed to be, but loading the savegame gives me my megacolonies back. So i can choose now the pq i' like to have for the further game!

I have the german game, transformed to the englich version with the data 1.1 file and afterwards extended universe installed. It runs very stable and has not crashed so far.

Save game available.
Anyone seen this bug so far?

This is not a bug. "restore last civilization" loads one of your auto-saves which is a few turns back, before you got all the bonuses. Your save, however, was AFTER you got everything. So, you see, it's perfectly reasonable.

Hmm hopefully only misleading once however... though I thought it was pretty clear.

I would have thought players would more commonly want to load their last saved game rather than their last autosaved game.

reload VS restore.

If you "restore" windows, it is suppose to put things back the way they were before major damage was done.

Perhaps, though I must admit I usually rely on the autosave feature as I have it on for every turn.
An oversight on my part perhaps, that and I figured you last save before you quit and the autosave should be the beginning of the same turn.

Unless of course your in the habit of having your last moves without pressing the end turn button.

However theres is a load button there, just a few clicks and what 3 seconds of your life away. LOL

Directed to Matthew, see you got in while I was typing there couslee.

lol. one of the benefits of saying what you want in a sentance.

makes it hard to write continued story lines tho. LOL

"Viraxian empire wins"
next game.

:( not too exciting

Actually, I agree that the button does not behave in the expected fashion; I would expect it to load the save file that is dated most recently, instead of limiting its selection only to autosave files.

I'd say it's perfectly fine as
1. The turns per autosav is user set.
2. It assumes the restore function is being used after an event such as a crash (indeed that is what most restore functions are for) and hence, you didn't get a chance to save it yourself. Of course if you did save it yourself, it assumes you would know that.

I happen to agree with you, Pontius.

Unfortunately as far as I can tell the manual overlooks the shell screen (only explores new game).
The only description I can find about the button is when you click it and there is no autosave file... then it tells you what to do :D.

I would expect it to save the game when you quit and restore that. Many games do save the game when you close them and GalCiv certainly takes long enough to close (on my machine anyway). Ionly made this mistake once though.
