Thought I'd beat Theo to a scoop for a change. This has happened in the last few minutes, as I was doing some housekeeping on the Jedi Republic website. Check out the evidence:

Umm...well, that sort of deflates my posting of my first Maso wins a few minutes ago. Cotal, as per our normal procedure at the JR, let me welcome you - and point out that you're up for, well, virtually any kind of lightsaber you want! :D

Visit www.wincustomize.com. You'll see a link for "Edit Account" near the top of the page. Be sure to change ONLY your "nickname" and keep submitting under your "player name" of Cotal; you should be fine.

Seriously, if you plan to stay for awhile, I probably should add you to the website.

Actually I do, I've always admired your empire . . . Obi Wan . . . but I'm kinda retired, I don't plan on playing too often, not for the next couple weeks anyways . . . :)

Not sure this name suits me at all, but it will do for now, thanks for your help Obi Wan and congrats on having the most awesome site imho of all the empires!

Ray your right offcourse, but to be totaly honest some of the banter about me round here was true! I have ('had' I mean 'had' . . . um oppsie) a pathological addiction to this game LOL . . . I love this community but gameplay wise it's definately time to move onto something else . . . anything else!

(I realized I had a problem when I started getting flashes to the diplomacy screen as I talked to people throughout the day! e.g. 'Hey Vern can I lend that biro? . . . I'd think . . .Mmm that doesn't seem like a good deal to me!)

Kinda kidding, well sorta :notsure:

I have a pet monkey, heya and I realize that it's Han Solo not Hand Solo, I just assumed the other name would be taken already, correct me if I'm mistaken . . .

The easiest way to check if a name is taken is just to try to grab it at wincustomize.com - the system won't duplicate an existing nickname. I had to leave the hyphen out of "Obi-Wan" because somebody else - obviously not current around here - had already taken it.

That all depends on your point of view.

Seriously, I'm not sure I should give out spoilers here - but I will anyway. Yep. Unless he has a clone walking around somewhere, they're the same guy. In Episode II, Palpatine was given "emergency powers" as head of the Senate. Obviously, he's not planning on letting go of them anytime soon. One of the great bits of that movie is when Palpatine says "I love democracy" with a perfectly straight face.

Less - you're about 2000 profile points short to actually reverse the positions. Could make it interesting for some of the smaller scorers - they could actually influence the placings. Why not give it a try - you know it makes sense....

Matthew, I've added you to the JR website for the time being.

With so many updates in the last day, the JR website is officially "on hold" until the Metaverse Madness settles down. I'll let Theo take care of the headlines on this one.

In addition to Obi-Wan's explanation, well, they call him Emperor Palpatine for a reason. Although I can't remember off the top of my head whether they do that at any point in the original trilogy or just in EU (yes I'm a Star Wars nut and yes I should be in JR... but not right now ;))

At the very least I'm going to hold off on any serious empire changing (if I do at all!) until all the prank defectors go back and I can see how things really stand...

Oh and just my opinion here, but if super-high scoring players (i.e. Cotal) are going to 'retire' then I would ask that they go unaffiliated so that us poor humans can fight amongst ourselves in teh empire rankings without having one or another empire boosted by a dead sack of half a million points :notsure:
