We now know the horrible consequences of trying to eat 77 M&Ms in one go. Don't do it, people. No matter how tempting they seem at the time :d

Nice choice for the theme songs, Samurai - I thought you would've gone with "Kung Fu Fighting", though, given your new theme. It's given me a new story idea...

P.S. I've still got my old Team Fortress pyro suit, just in case.

I am definitely honored you would extend me an open invitation for the future. One day I might have to be thinking about my empire options, true. If the day comes, I will be seriously thinking about your offer. For now, I am still trying to fix the pirate ship when not sneaking around the Meta or trying to score some loot to bring back home.

Sorry if it is a bit strong. Will find something lighter!! :(

Is this better?

Uh
I played tag in the auto graveyard
I looked up at the radio tower
Rag tent by the railroad tracks
Concrete poured over steel bridge
Pondered my fate
While they built the interstate

Ginata, I have also been trying to max out a Huge map (not much luck though) - I was just thinking, what are the scores you end up with (my latest game was :
Society 7822
Technology 4000
Economy 7182
Military 1943
Total 20947
Mpts 50530

I was wondering what kind of multiplier you have seen (from total to Mpts)

Oh and by the way - great to see you back

Ah, finally, got the appropriate lyrics!!!

Aaberg . . .

I resubmited just to research Galactic Pacifism (gave me an extra 70 points would have liked 90 hehe)

Society 21 953
Technology 7 492
Economy 12 676
Military 1427
Total 43 548

Mpts 55 980

It was a dream run (didn't have to lease to many wonders like I ussualy do), had 7 forced PQ events (collinizing 12s/13s/14s), missed Gravity Accelerators, Nano Recorders, Diplomatic Translators and Frictionless Clothing. Can't get too greedy at the start, always brings me unstuck when I try to get everything . . .

Also missed one early wonder . . . um, can't remember what it was. Thats probably about 400 pts right there.

The millitary score is suprisingly high considering I never built any offensive ship . . . The social part of the score is the main bread winner (I had like a dozen planets after colinization compared to each major having four or less) . . . half way through the game I had about 78% of the galaxy population.

I'm still trying to figure out where I can pick up a few more points . . . mabye finishing the game with a Alpha troop strike instead of Terror Stars might improve the score a bit . . . but its hard to say, troop invasions appear in the debrief but in all honesty I'm not sure how they affect the score (I used combat transports for vulturing throughout the game invading where ever I could and only lost "6" troops/unit) . . .

Oh, also I made sure I was 95% good at the conclusion (not bad after being about 5 early on) and set the AIs to Pure Evil . . . that seems to help alot too as well as making sure the AI doesn't finish the tech tree.

Hmmm....the problem seems to be trade off between how many points you can get from society, technology, economy and the multiplier.

My guess is that you had the upper hand on AI for several years before ending the game (which i guess would lower the multiplier but helped you get more points).

Thanks for the input :D

Hey, I'm back on the Big Board!

Killa - I'm sort of sorry about knocking you off, but hey there's fun for both of us...

Have a great weekend,

Hi Cotal Ginata

Glad you are playing again. When you are maxing points from a huge maso do you still try to ally?

I played most of my games as good against all pure evil AI until nearly getting whipped because I "got good too fast" or someting and the Drengin wanted my hide in spite of my best diplomatic efforts. I had to use a terror star rush just to win, which is not very elegant. LOL.

I am still experimenting but it seems like I lose the close relationship with the evil AI if I get "too good" (51,60,61???) too early. Once the evil AI goes from close to friendly in response to my morality bump, I have trouble getting them close again. So . . . my questions are:

Any further tips on the ally strategy? Are you always playing all pure evil AIs now? Don't you take the evil planet events initially and work your way back to good later in the game with the random pop-up morality events? Are you finding it easier to ally when you are evil or neutral? I am still trying to get the timing down on the alliance things.

My favorite game was getting all 5 major and 4 minors to ally with me while fighting each other. After that, dropping party palaces inside their sectors was unchallenged and the pace of the game was easy to control. It is also very funny to have my allies call me a "parasite". . . but they always seem to stay allied. :D

Any tips are appreciated. Thank you. :)

Not really the transmogrifier, Sherbert. I have a story cooking around inside my head that should cover the change. In the meantime, I thought the Jedi part of my persona needed to be toned down - that's the JR's turf. "Samurai Ben" hints at it without hitting someone over the head - which is Harel's turf. :)

It also pays respects to the incredible "Samurai Jack" - check out the profile image!

RISE AND SHINE, SOLDIERS! It is your day in the sun. It has been quite a while since I profiled an empire in the Major Alignments thread. The last time it was the Evil Ones, and they were a totally new concept in the Meta. The Special Forces seems like a fresh new animal even if it does have a core of beastly players with a lot of empire history, so I took the ball and ran with it. I was meaning to have this done earlier, but between RL and trying to bring some loot back to the pirate ship things got delayed.

Wow - that's going to call for some thought. The CariElf Fan Club's anthem is obviously the theme from "The Love Boat," but yours takes more creativity!

"WAKE UP! WAKE UP, YOU USELESS MAGGOTS!" roared Sergeant Hard as he stomped through the barracks.

"It's Saturday. Bugger off." muttered one of the animals as he went back to sleep.

Life in the Slow Lane

Part 1

Cypher Pax and Jaws laid down heavy suppressive fire at the entrance to the town garrison. Killa Koala and Wild Wombat stole vehicles from the motor pool whilst Quack and Hurley tried to persuade the townsfolk to rise up in a vicious uprising.

Cypher and Jaws retreated. The Euros were in for a long night of hit and run guerilla tactics. Soon the Euros called in reinforcements from the Starbase. Now, the Special Forces could handle 12-1 odds, but not 20-1 odds – particularly once Cypher and Jaws’ mini-guns ran out of ammo as Gerakken predicted they would.

The cornered animals were desperate. They might escape out of town in a troop truck, but one of them would have to stay behind. Cypher Pax volunteered as he still had ammo in his bandolier. The remaining Special Forces shed a tear as they sped off. They could hear Cypher Pax going down in a blaze of glory.

Part 2

In the dark, Killa bounced off the truck. His head hit a rock and….

With a groan Killa gained consciousness, slowly. He put a paw to his numb and aching head. He looked at his bloody paw in dismay, and wondered how long he had been lying by the track. The ground shook suddenly and some minutes later a wave of compressed air washed over the countryside. Then another, stranger wave washed over Killa. He felt dislocation and a wrenching in his gut. Lights played across his eyeballs, his arms tingled and it was if a thousand people were talking at once. Followed by silence.

Killa shook his head in dismay at the weird sensations. The mass drivers of Navarone had just been taken out. Killa sighed with pleasure…the mission had succeeded! Now to get home.

Part 3

After many adventures, Killa arrived back at the Special Forces planet that yet remained unnamed. He docked the CariElf and walked proudly to the Special Forces pub. Only…it was a café. He frowned. He hadn’t been gone that long. Inside was warm lighting: where the bar had been were bookshelves; classical music serenaded the room; the Forces were sitting around coffee tables quietly chatting.

“Guys, er, people. I’m back!”

Killa was warmly greeted and quickly gave a debriefing. “So after I swapped recipes with the space pirates I headed straight for here. I assume that everyone-else made it back earlier and the Euros are once again where they should be. How much did we make on the mission?”

Wild nodded. “Correct, we all made it back. However Killa, you’ve forfeited your share of the loot. Article 125.4(x) clearly provides that a participant in a mission as defined in article 99 who is not less than two weeks returning to the first point of embarkation loses ten percent of his or her share per diem each and every day thereafter until their share which would have accrued according to Part D of the articles is exhausted. Let me think, sub-articles one to twenty don’t apply to you, do they Cypher?”

Cypher looked thoughtful. “Sub-article fifteen concerns unavoidable delays. However I would suggest that even though Killa was held captive by the space pirates, once he began swapping recipes, the nature of his detention changed to that of guest and this interpretation is further supported by the koala’s subsequent release and parting bunch of flowers”.

“Indeed” said Hurley. “Guest is defined in regulation 1.03 as a ‘Person entertained at another’s house or table; person lodging at hotel; animal or vegetable parasite’. Clearly Killa became just such a parasite and hence by meeting the definition of guest in regulation 1.03, went on to satisfy the exclusion paragraph and so cannot satisfy sub-article fifteen or indeed sub-article sixteen”.

“Forgot about sub-article sixteen.”

Killa gazed at the Forces. They were all solemnly nodding. "Guys, what gives? You sound like Euros now…”

Wild looked concerned. “Killa, the Euros hate rules and regulations: they're cowboys! Anyway, you know the rules better than any of us. Why are you acting so strangely?”

Jaws took Killa’s elbow, gently. “Come on mate. It’s Friday night. Have a nice cup of tea and you’ll feel better”. He led Killa to a couch. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you about my latest project: my book which I’ve called ‘Zen and the Many Uses of Herbal Infusions’. After the success of ‘Vegetarian Food for the Carnivore’ I’m quietly excited at the prospects of cracking the G.R.O.S.S. market”.

Killa eyed Jaws in amazement. “Vegetarian food…Zen…the pirates?”

“Well the Fellowship is hardly going to buy my literary works are they? They’re the biggest market and all they’ll read are gothic horror!”

Quack nodded whilst lighting his incense burner. "I've just finished your 'Origami for the Officeworker'. Been making the cutest, little humans for my desk."

Harel wandered over. “Chaps! I’m just about to go butterfly catching with Samurai Ben. We were wondering if the poetry reading is still on at 5 AM tomorrow morning”.

“Of course. Ginata is doing a reading of Harel’s opus ‘When Diplomats Whisper Then Guns Become Plows’”.

“Inspirational that. I try and read a bit of it every night to inspire me at work”.

“How is the Hairdressing Salon going?”

Samurai Ben pursd his lips. “Excellent. We still do the ten dollar clipper cut. And streaks and extensions are coming back in, if you’re interested Hurley”.

Jaws stood up. “Well I’m for bed…way past my bedtime”.

“Me too", murmured Quack, yawning. "I think I’m going to lay off the lemonade for a bit. It’s giving me indigestion”.

“Yea, I’ve found that too. Pepsi is better, although Mrs Wombat’s hot chocolate settles the tummy”.

The Forces quickly left the café and headed for bed. Killa stared in amazement and looked at his watch. It was nine o’clock. Things had changed.

Killa was thoughtful. And clearly, the changes were for the better. Finally, he felt at home. A cultured and peaceful oasis of sensible, mature beings. Pillars of Society. Who could ask for anything more?
