It seems that when I want to invade a planet, I actually end up needing to kill everyone who lives on the planet?

Is this right, or am I doing something wrong?

Yep. there is no place in your empire for devoted AI ppl. :)

Of course, you can always culture them enough so that they see things your way.

That one is a little more mysterious, yes. But as long as they are loyal, I don't really care what they look like. The way I justify that is I have people to take care of any special alien needs after all. Us overlords cannot sweat the small stuff.

Indeed! My Achean chefs serve Torian soup to the Drengin overseers of the Alterian science slaves, who of course are part of the Human trailer trash work program. LOL
