Event Bug??

Hi all this is my first post. So far I like this game alot even more then Masters of Orion 3. Much easier. Anyways I was just playing when this came up. It was the begining of the game and I had not had any contact with the other races. After a couple of turns the special event,the one saying you insult the race while you were meeting them came up. Suddenly I was at war with a race I had not even meet or seen yet. Can it happen like that?

I wouldnt think so, that does sound odd to have your
diplomat insult the leader of a race you dont
have contact with :)

This happened to me too. 5 turns into the game I insulted the ambassador of the altarans. I was yet to meet anyone.

Not too sure if events could check the game state (ie whether diplomatic contact has been made), maybe the developers or expert modders could enlighten us.

If it really bothers you now, activate autosaving and reload one when such an anomaly occurs.

Just checked the code.  It doesn't check to see if you know the race, but it obviously should.
