Please help me turn it down

from Stardock Forums
I can't make the volume settings stick.
Everytime I start GalCiv the volume is back to default.
Not only would I like it to stay where I left it, I want it to effect the initial dialog's music and the intro movies as well. Is this an existing capability that I can't find?

Try changing the volume settings for windows itself, by clicking on the volume icon in your system tray (if it's not there youcan turn it on in the sounds applet in control panel).

Actually my hope was to isolate this program. I often find myself listen to a streaming university class and wanting to play while I just listen to the guy. As it is now, starting GalCiv means I can't here him for a few minutes until I get to the in-game menu to turn it down. (this might be an extended time for me because my laptop isn't the fastest in the world)

You need an audio program that can edit the sound levels in certain files.Cool Edit used to have a free demo version that you could use to adjust each file.Nero has one as well that comes with version 5 called nero wave editor.

It seems to remember if you've turned off the music altogether. Just turn it off before you quite the game, then you can turn it back on when you get back in?
