Well we all know that this new site is in need of extermination. There are bugs every day and it seems as if they are always different. Today I am trying to submit a skin, and the page for that just loads forever and nothing happens. No time out, no error, just looks as if it's loading. Throbber is throbbing, the whole bit. For a half an hour it loads and still nothing. This site is REALLY cool, but I think that the patience of many is being tried.

webgizmos if you have System Mechanic 5 Professional,you can
properly clean your cache with no worries, i use it with 100% resaults..for me anyways

The sites apparently working nearly 100% for me, smileys, forum posts and the message markers, I can rate again ( giddy laugh ^_^ ) the only error I get is the occasional "Server Error in '/' Application."

The things I miss are the rating system being 10 points, instant, and showing how many ratings a skin has received and showing what you rated it to be, so you knew whether or not you did rate it

I miss the "show everything" type of system, showing all comments, and all skins, and such instead of after so many you go into multiple pages. I hate going through page after page, when it's faster overall to just load it all once, than load the entire page minus some text 3 or 4 times.

I miss the navigation always being the same in the sub menus, well I take that back, I like how it adapts to pages and instead of top authors etc for Wincustomize in general, show top authors etc for the specific library. But I think the library itself should always be on every page.

I miss when you clicked on an authors name and hit "view my skins" it used to show in order of type and so forth, every skin that author has made in a single page, with thumbnails and description. Now it shows the list view of "my skins" which brings me also to the my most missed thing from the old site.

By far the biggest thing I miss, and I'm sure I'm not alone on this, is the "My Skins" page. Now once I figured out what the refferals are that was added to "My Skins" page I'll admit I absolutely love the feature of seeing how much outside attention it brings, and where from, thats completely awesome for a "feature".

What I miss is how and what was displayed. It used to list skins in order of type, by example of my page, all wallpapers first, all object dock skins second, and within each type, all were listed in alphabetical order. In the new version, It shows them all by order of "Newest or Most Recently Updated". So instead of all wallpapers from a-z, then all objectdock from a-z, I get..

wallpaper
object dock....

in short, just a cluttered looking mess, and the people that have like 6-7 different catagories they submit in, I can only imagine the strain on the eyesies you get each day.

Another part that really kills me is the multiple page thing again, my skins used to show one list of absolutely everything, whereas now you get the cluttered list of like 30 or 40 then have to go to page 2, page 3, page 4, I can only imagine how hard it is for people like apoc, andi, etc..to look at your list and compare and get a good overall view of your skins when you have to go through 10 different pages, and can't see everything listed at once, and it seems like it's a random order.

It was much more efficient when it listed and showed absolutely everything on one page, sorted by catagory of library, and listed individual items of each in alphabetical order. I don't see any need for making a user look at 20 different pages especially for this instance because it's a list view, not a thumbnail view, it only shows the same 16x16 pictures over and over and the rest is all text. And if I haven't whined enough about my skins, I have one last thing to say

The old my skins page used to show these for each thing at the bottom of the page that showed EVERYTHING, Total Comments, Average Rating, Total Downloads Today, and Total Downloads Overall.




So if I had a wincustomize genie that would grant me one wish, I'd wish for the "My Skins" page to have all the features it does now, but work like it used to. Such as...

List absolutely every skin that author has on a single page, group skins together by library catagory, then list the skins in each group alphabetically (like it used to). Then add in the new part like it has now of showing, comments, rating, referrals, site referrals, downloads today, and downloads overall for each skin. Then at the bottom of the page TOTALS/AVG for the new and old stuff
Total Comments, Average Rating, Total Referrals, Total Site Referrals, Total Downloads Today, and Total Downloads Overall.

Then after everything was working right like it used to, with the new items. THEN ADD THE NEW FEATURES, like Display Catagory (just wallpapers), Sort by (any of the options like downloads, name, updated), and when you pick specific catagories like that, make the TOTALS/AVG change to apply to that specific library. It might also be nice to have it so when the main part of my skins shows all skins listed by catagory then name in each, perhaps subtotals.

So if it showed all wallpapers first, listed them through a-z, show at the bottom of wallpapers the totals/avg for wallpapers, then under that, show all object dock, listed through a-z, show at the bottom of object dock list the totals/avg for your object dock skins, then under THAT, the totals/avg for everything.

Other than that, which is a kinda long rant, the email thing is needed, I liked being able to customize the libraries shown (which is probably still available I'm just overlooking) and when we had that username/access level bug a while back, that reminded me I couldn't find the place to change titles (which I'm also probably overlooking)

As it stands though, all my crying is over the design part of how the site works, the fact that the site is working for me again makes me pretty happy. The site working or not working, is different than whether it works like you want, or having to get used to it.

Oh yeah, and the personal websites that we get, I completely love the way it works, by showing the user info on left, 5 most current on right, then shows you 10 side by side (or other way if you prefer) after that. The only thing I would ever really want changed out of that is maybe more customize features. But I really like it how it is now.
Maybe being able to change even slightly, graphics or layout, or feature certain skins n' things, would be nice down the road.

And for the most part, I like the way this site looks compared to the other, something I'm not so sure people would agree with me on, I SAID IT ANYWAY!!

I WISH that there was a "Grand total" on the My Skins page - instead you have to click on stats. that wasn't a good idea.

Butch123...I've tried a System Mechanic...and it worked pretty good...but I don't think it's my cache that has been causing the problems as some might suggest. The problem is the site itself. I don't have any of these problems anywhere else and I visit others site as much if not more than here. So if cache was the problem I would think I'd have these same problems elsewhere.

And with the old site I never had problems with my cache or anything else. And I think I do a pretty good job at cleaning my pc on a regular basis. So since these problems all started after the change over from the old site to the new...I think it's safe to say the problem is here.

Hmm..my patience are really starting to be tested....in the last 6-7 days I uploaded 5 logons with authorization. Every one refused, or I figured that cuz they arent there. And not even an explanation. not an email.nothing. now thats frustrating. But I guess patience is virtue.

Wizop Fuzzy Logic sory not so i receve mail from WinCustomize often for blind screenshots. Just everytime one of my logons are refused, maybe my spam filters dont like replies for logons. lol...
