Bug: Sudden HP-Loss?

Last game, from one turn to another I noticed that my Survey Ship suddenly had these electrical sparks all over it. I found out that it had lost about 1/3 of it's HP from out of nowhere! Also, all of my ships on autopilot had vanished and all of my space stations had also 1/3 of their HPs lost and all of them were sparking!
Can someone explain how this happened?
Luckily, I was not engaged in any wars and I won the game a couple of turns later. Otherwise, this would have been devastating!

I think you will find it went the other way.

If you just researched a hit point(Hp) tech then your max Hp would increase immediatly while your current hp remained the same. If you watch it over time your current Hp will creep back up to your max.

Think of it as time taken to re-alian the shields or weilding on the new armour.

Good point! Might very well be... I did research a whole lot of new military stuff at the end of the game... But spark just meaning "less than maximum" makes sense; just confused me because it seemed as if everything was *broken*.

Most sure you came across with a space shark or one of the pirates ships, that is the reason why you ship got damaged.
