can someone please add this as a feature

Can their be a check box like "repeat build" for starships?

in the mid game and later I usually have certain planets always produce the same thing - it would be nice not have to selected it each time.

I think I'm misunderstanding the question. Because what it sounds like your asking for is what the game does. The planets will keep producing the same ship unless you change it to another kind of ship set it to nothing, or set your military production to 0%.

No he's asking for there to be an option to have the planet build the same thing over and over. He wants to be able to turn it off, rather than be forced to go through his planets to tell them not to build whatever it was he set them to.

How about selecting one of the planet governors? like the last one and make sure they only have what you want in there build queue? that way you change mid game to them and not have to change it all. I find it helps to rename the planets / stars to what they do and who is the governor, EG MA_034_G3 (manufacturing #34 and governor #3)

You can also turn the auto build option off from the options screen, so that it won't continue to build the ships.

Citizen Fulgrymm got it right - I switch or check box would be nice in the planet interface to determine whether you want it to build or not
