Metaverse...

The metaverse isn't anywhere near done but we are now able to at least keep track of users. Eventually everyone will have accounts tied to their Drengin accounts with a galactic map and all sorts of other goodies.

But at least now we can see who the top players are. ;)

Yep, hehe - I found a savegame where I was at the end of the game :)

Anyway I'll replace that entry with a new one this weekend when I have some time. hehe.

I think the scores are cumulative. Brad, what's the formula?

The current formula is pretty basic...I think it's the average of your military, population, economy, and techological averages. For the beta we'll be implementing a new score formula, at which point all current scores will be wiped from the metaverse. That score will be something like...

(GameDifficulty * SizeOfGalaxy * (Player01 * Intelegenceo1) * (Player02 * Intelegenceo2) *... * (Player05 * Intelegenceo5) * sqr(HistoricalPopulation) * VictoryCondition ) / CurrentGameYear

Where the VictoryCondition is a number reflecting how the game ended (YouLoseCondition = 1, MilitaryVictory = 10, EconomicVictory = 20 ect). Dividing it by the GameYear will discourage players who want to build up their score by pressing the turn button when only one enemy star system remains.

Good thinking but I believe that the only way to keep a balaced top-list is to make more than one. One per gamewin type. The above formula is great for a person that uses combat to eliminate the enemy - but not that good for a person that goes for the research-win. Basicly because it takes more turns. But then the pop is probably bigger for those who goes for reseach so it might balance anyway. Hmm well some thoughts posted anyway. :)

As long as the victory condition takes into account the amount of extra time to win (ie research is longer than kill everyone), sounds good.

Metaverse takes all your games that you'v esubmitted and divides it by the square root of the # of games. So even if you lose, you're better off submitting it. However, you can only submit ONCE per game so loading a game, submitting it and then reloading and winning again won't get you duplicate wins, it'll take the first one you submitted.

Ehh when you complete a game by winning or losing you should see a screen where you see the score and can enter name/email. And choose if ya wanna submit it or not.

I just replayed the last few turns of my last game...no final screen asking for email or submit or not appeared.

I just got the lowest score so far for a win: 67 :)

It was in the beginning of a game (jan 2182), smallest map with all races using the hardest choices.

I found out you could sweet-talk them to give up their defender and transporter, and then I attacked them with their own transporter. hahahahahaha
