What happening to my game?

Half way through the last couple of games, my screen icons will suddenly change from the terran ones to red one and it says some of my systems are now fundamentalists, I can change production but not control the ships? Is it a bug or an aspect of game play that is covered in the xtraordinarly thin documetation of this game?

If the systems are under control of the fundies, they aren't yours.

Rex,

The Fundamentalists pop into existence as a result of an event. They take over planets from other races (including yours), seeming to prefer planets from evil empires with low morale.

So, the game's functioning correctly - you're just getting hammered by the Fundies several games in a row. It happens. The best ways to avoid getting hit by this event are to play with a Good morality, keep your morale high, and have a strong military to rip into them as soon as they appear and get your planets back...

Aren't the fundamentalists an event that "Evil" empires suffer from? That's why the icons went red once you qualified as evil.

There are two things happening at once.
1) The icons go red because you are evil (made several evil choices in the planet events and such).
2) The fundamentalist event popped up probably at the same time. They steal planets from evil empires.
