Serious Game Problem

I have a german original, bought it about a month ago. The game seems to shutdown just in the game, somewhere at turn, for unknown reason, everytime I start a new one, without warning to my desktop >:( I have installed Galciv 1.1, including the expansion pack (?) and it seems to be now even worse :( :( and the language now is sometimes english, sometimes german and my old savegames were GONE although they still remained in the savings-list...

Guys, what is wrong? I reinstalled directx, updated windows, etc. . it still shuts down at same time!

I tried to download 1.12. But I dont know if it worked.. but as it seems, I must guid my survey ships now manually... so stupid !!!! >:(

Mariner,
try installing directx 9. I had the same problem and that solved it...

Well, I was continuing with guiding the survey ships manually... saved the game (because I had to go away). And what happens? I come back from beeing away, load the saved game, it loads to 100% and shuts off. Everytime! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Reinstalled also directx 9 (from call of Duty)

Helps a shit..

Mariner2003: Did you get the files from this link and put the .ship file in your data folder, and the .mdl file in your gfx folder?

http://www.joeuser.com/sdfiles/monsters.zip

Someone gave you a link above for a thread that has clean data files in case these aren't enough.

If replacing those files doesn't work, zip the game (both the folder and the .sav file) and send it to me at [email protected] and I'll see if I can fix your save game file.

It just turnes the game off! >:( without any warning! Today, just when I changed the amount of monthly amount for propaganda in the planet menu. A click and bang, byebye.

Dont know what to do :sniff!: :sniff!: :sniff!: :sniff!: :sniff!: :sniff!: :sniff!: >:(

PS: I downloaded the monster.zip, anomaly.zip and followed the instructions. Also downloaded the english files into the data directory. Still crashes all the time. Invade a planet, want to go on details to change propaganda and bang, crash! Don't understand it.

When I want to download a patch, it always guides me to the bonus pack, wich I already downloaded and installed. :notsure: >:(

Fucking gamequalitiy these days >:( >:( >:(

Mariner2003: To get the latest verison of Gal Civ, you should download Stardock Central from here:

 http://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp

And then use it to download 1.12.

As I said previously, if you continue to have crashes, please zip up your save games and send them to me at [email protected] I would also like to see your debug.err from your galciv folder and a dxdiag report.

I have bought the german version in the stores here. As the CD-ROM was brand new with the game version 1.05, I upgraded to 1.12. The upgrade I did was first the Expansion (graphics ?), then the Bonus Pack and finally the newest version (might have been a dumb order, but worked). For me, everything works fine as long as I start with new games.

The old games (stored with the german version) crash the game. It was a bit of a surprise, but it's no problem I think.

Greetings

PS: And the good side-effects are - no more CD need in the drive and the game display is better (the german version had some translation specific *umm* bugs).

Planeteer66: do you mean that you're having problems with loading save games?

CariElf, I cannot load games I stored with the older, german version into the new, english version. As I am fairly new, I just started anew.

Since then, with new games created with the english version, everything works fine. I dismissed the problem as "language and update feature".

And no, I had no disappearing ships, neither in the english nor the german version...

Thanks for the good work !

End of quote

This may not have anything to do with the German/English differences. Its always recommended to finish all games you are in the middle of before updating
