Some Suggestions For An Even Better GalCiv ...

Think someone suggested this somewhere but an offline in-game hi-score table just for single player so even if you dont submit scores you can still see a progression in your games, would be nice to add all the medals and whatnot that you get on-line too if possible.

A history text file, anyone old enough to remember Civilization ? the very first one ? it created a text file of each years major events, from year zero to the final year / finish, that would be very useful , not only would it show how people form stratigies but like the Civ one it would be a real intresting read at the end of a game.

To add to this,

I would like to see a record of who owns a trade good and who built a wonder (and perhaps the galactic achievements, including on what planet if we can see). So when on that gigantic map and the alexians have built the diplomatic device and gravity accelators. If they die from one of the other races before you have a chance to reach out and meet them we would know that those devices are gone.
In game record keeping of some of these stuff I see as a little more important for those of us that takes a week or two to finish a game instead of one sitting.

There are also the little reports that we get such as torians declare war on alexians (and we don't have contact with either)

What you suggested was what the original Civ history kept a track of :) as regards importmant monuments / social achievments.

As for those trade goods :notsure: if a minor race beat me to the production of one i only recently tried to obtain them from the race (usually a minor) well i trade for it and get it, and it never appears on my side of the trade window, ive checked my planets to see if can be built and its not there , i checked the details on my planets, its not on any of them, im not too sure where they go LOL i have the required tech level to use them but still they dont show up once they have been built by another race , even if you trade and get them, you should have the option to build what youve bought? or even if you only get the bonuses, it should still show in the trade window on your side?

It doesn't show up on your side of the trade window because the other race has a monopoly on its distribution, so only they can sell its benifits. Check your stats before and after you buy it to see that you do have the benifits. I agree that there should be a list somewhere of who built what and who bought it from them.

Civ's end game replay was great. That of Civ3 is slow and doesn't contain as much information, being overall uglier and not half as entertaining as the original replay. Such a thing would be fun, but one point which I'd like to see is the cultural ebb and flow, but since this is not stored in the savegames, I doubt it would be shown in the replay.
