A recommendation: RRT3

I just wanted to pass along that Railroad Tycoon III is pretty darned good. They completely revamped the way supply and demand works, and it's actually sensible now. (For instance, passengers want to go to a particular city, not just away from where they are.) Owning industry in this game can now contribute a substantial amount to your bottom line, and you have to weigh the benefits of buying industry versus expanding your line quite carefully.
The biggest problem I have with the game is lack of scenario-free play, but I imagine PopTop will deal with this in a future patch. It's a huge oversight, IMHO.
I haven't tried the game in multiplayer mode yet, but my impression is that it won't center on the stock market so much as multiplayer RRT II did. This game really shifts the focus to running the railroad and industry as a business.
If you liked RRT or RRT2, I'd recommend picking up RRT3. I give it a thumbs up.
