Uhm...this has bugged me for a long time, and I've seen NO explanation as of yet...

How are the ranks determined? I mean, like "Ensign," "Fleet Captain," ect. I'm confused as to how I got to my rank, and am very curious as to how this is implemented. Unless it's some kind of big secret we're not supposed to know. Then I understand. :)

It's a combination of your score and number of games played. Someone else can probably give you the exact numbers.

it's a kinda points/number of games thing, nicholas. someone else will have the breakdown. since the the creation of the 'masoverse' the point levels are a bit out of kilter with the number of games levels. from memory, i think a vice admiral is something like 50,000 points and 30 games, and a commodore is 30,000 points and 20 games.

Some of us have posted this before. It's unofficial, determined through looking at the Metaverse.

Fleet Admiral 350,000 points and 80 games
Admiral 200,000 points and 50 games
Vice Admiral 100,000 points and 40 games
Rear Admiral 50,000 points and 30 games
Commodore 20,000 points and 20 games
Fleet Captain 10,000 points and 10 games
Captain 5,000 points and 10 games
Commander either 5 games or 2,500 points and 3 games
Lieutenant either 5 games or 2,000 points and 1 game
2nd Lieutenant 3 games
Ensign - at least one game and a positive score.

Edit: Reminder that you need to look at your personal profile score (nick hyperlink) rather than the Metaverse listing score.

Nicolas,
Ray's table isn't completely accurate.
The ranking is actually based on the ratio of the number of drinks consumed vs. the number of times you have thrown up.
It should be fairly easy to get promoted through the ranks, but I have found each time I have gotten a promotion I can't quite remember what I did the night before to achieve it.
It usually involves downing 10 or 11 beers and then telling Wild Wombat "I rooolly loves you's maaayte" and then re-deposting the previously mentioned beer on him. He is an inspiring and dedictated emporer and takes this extremely well. He has only punched me out once.
Hope this helps.

they indicate the number of large pizzas you can eat whilst off ya face, before having to drive the porcelain truck. so they actually represent empty pizza boxes.
your pizza/beer ratio is obviously very good!

A list of all the little metaverse icons that show up below your posts. Doesn't actually tell you what a Captain and a Fleet Captain are, but it does say what the bars mean. And those are the only ones that don't come with tooltips if you hold your mouse over them, for some reason.

I have compiled the icons with the requirements on the Fellowship FAQ page:

The ANZACs could surely use your aid, Jeff! They are doomed to fall to 10th place without you. :D Of course, even with your help, they'd still be doomed, but the inevitable would take longer to come to pass. :)

Yes, they do seem a bit out of kilter. Here I am with 48,000 and 9 games as a relative newbie. Guess I should finish post one more to get a new rank and a new medal. Still, the Metaverse does add a little something extra to the GalCiv experience.
