Bug Reports for 1.13

Bug Reports for 1.13

Please post bug reports here for version 1.13.

If you are asked to send a save game, I will need both the .sav file and the folder with the same name.  Zipping them usually works best.

My e-mail is [email protected].

Please give detailed explanations on how to reproduce bugs.  More information is better than less.

If people start out reading this thread, there will be less repeat bug reports, and it will be easier for everyone to read this thread.

Thanks.

Could you verify this?

I have verified this for myself, feel free to try it out. :)

You mean that only Mr. Ford has this problems and the others can keep a secret? Could you verify this? If so, I would send this double agent in prison until our intelligence service got the upper hand again

To the Death Furnaces with him! But set them on slow cook...

Meanwhile, YIKES! Late game gigantic maso, and I'm cranking out constructors as per the Lightning Alpha Strike. Saved the game last night, tried to open the position this morning to check something. [No, really, I swear it...just to check something!] The game came up literally empty. Main map was all red (with grid lines, suggesting that option was recorded). Minimap blank. Hit F5, and the "majors" displayed only "Test Text." I tried to click "Menu" and the game hung, "Not Responding." I was able to End Task. I don't remember hearing about this one before! -- HtL

That happened to me once, but AutoSave and PreviousAutoSave were fine. That's what they're there for, after all. :)

That's what I'm hoping, of course. Tried the "corrupt" position twice; didn't have time to try the autosave...and I didn't want to find out how much "work" I've lost.

The strategy is "Lightning" but I'm not.

The same thing happened to me as well, only the Autosave was corrupted as well. I hope the best for yours.:(
Reply #331 Top
Actually, now that I think of it, AutoSave was the corrupt save I was trying to load. PreviousAutosave worked. The game had CTDd when the Draginol tried to appear. They appeared just fine when I played through from PreviousAutosave, though.

Attempts to force major to make peace with minor always results in "No". I became so pissed I selected trade embargo. I know this hurt them economically, them more so than me. After a few turns I went back and selected "make peace with...". I refused to trade. Why should I? This has happened before with the same two races. I wasn't going to be milked (I bought peace once before) and I wasn't going to let them indefinitely continue to affect my economy by destroying the minor's merchant vessels. They refused, big surprise.
I declare war and destroy all of their capital ships... I once again selected "Make peace with..." They said "No", again. Are they just stoopid? This makes no sense! They have been reduced to nothing. The minor is now destroying their remaining fleet! They need the economic boost trade with me would bring!
Fine, I decide to buy peace, AGAIN. This resulted in "They won't accept peace. You talk to them...". Why didn't they say that in the first place!

The minor refused to make peace with the major. Period.

Many issues here, The only way to declare war is to attack. The AI doesn't have this limitation! AI doesn't indicate that they cannot negotiate peace. Idiotic AI allows themselves to be destroyed rather than concede to my demands. Player can make no real threats. Do this or else... Nice species aren't taken seriously... Why does the major hate this minor so?

Nuff said?

Hurley, I'm not showing one for the 18th, but there was one on the 17th that had the wrong serial number.  I fixed that one.  So Stardock Central no longer has the Gal Civ serial number filled out?  It had to have gotten that serial from somewhere, and Gal Civ only checks the registry.  You could try re-installing Stardock Central. That would re-install the dlls that Gal Civ uses to submit the score, so if there's a problem, that might clear it up.

I fixed the bug where the AI used the human's governor.

RasterOps,

Is the any way that you can try disabling the firewall stuff to see if it works submitting that way?

Hermann the Lombard: that only happens if it failed to load all the save game files, which usually happens because files are missing.  It's possible that the save game code was interrupted.   You could compare the directory with the autosave directory.

Thanks Cari, the dates difference I forgot we are ahead. I will probably remove all, delete the registry key, and reinstall all.

In this thread: Link and following the link to the thread mentioned in the first post, I have tried loading the last available save game and I get a CTD after clicking on the research screen to close it.

Debug information for each stardock app follows ....

That is all smart exception gave me. the savegame file name was rbgc1-2194ad.zip. I have noticed that when there are 100 files in the zip file I am okay. It loads the rbgc1-2193ad.zip (100 files) just fine. But I could not load rbgc1-2192ad.zip (91files) and there are 104 files in the current savegame. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not.

Is this a problem with my system? Or do I have a problem in my installation of GalCiv?

The autosave loaded correctly, to my relief, so I'll let the other one go. Thanks! -- HtL

this has probably been reported, but i'm getting the you can't build a starbase on a resource cos it's too close to another starbase - wasn't this supposed to be the exception to the new starbase rule?

:)

I just noticed in the past several games, since I started playing "tough" level on small maps that the assignment for the AI level is different on the submission window than what I had assigned them. For example, I assigned all as "bright" with one as "Intelligent." In the submit window after the game, they are labelded "Normal" with one as "Intelligent." Not sure what difference it makes since the score is correct on Metaverse and the level of the game is correct.

CariElf you are simply great :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:

Is JaxomCA right, i.e. it did only affect Mr. Ford and we can use the others?

This isn't a bug, this is a suggested enhancement: it would be helpful if the main map scrolled to follow a moving ship. It's a bit aggravating to have a ship move just off the screen (or just to the edge) and then hear it firing at something. It would also be good to see what Hero (or a scout or sensor drone) just moved to (like that big green rotating rock, for instance...) -- HtL

HercMighty,

Um, Gal Civ doesn't load zip files.  Also, what link are you referring to?

Captain Flash, I think that I've finally gotten that one fixed for the next update.

dqperry: it's probably just a cosmetic thing, but I'll look into it.

Walldorf2000: Yes, because the default governor for all planets is Mr. Ford, and the AI would never change it.

Cari,

Any more thoughts on my submission problem? :notsure:

what kind of connection do you have? Is it possible that it's been timing out?

In my current game I'm getting a lot of CTDs with corrupt AutoSaves. I think it's related to the appearance of the Draginol, which is due any time now.

Hello CariElf,

Just wanted to report a text error.

Starbase build screen>Economic>Interstellar Distributor: The description seemd to have more than one sentance, the description reads: "This module allows us to more efficiently handle our resources in a given sector. P" and that's the end of it. Seems the text should wrap but isn't.

Thanks...

Something I noticed in my last game: About 2200 game year, all the stats for all the players on the graphs dipped down to zero. For a second it looked like we had no military, population, technology, etc. That dip remained for the rest of the game. I assume you want the saved game (if you're interested). How do I do that?

Also, I got the Draginol corrupt AutoSave problem as well.
