Anyone else sort of miss the internal political game?

I know waaaay back in v1.0 it wasn't even then too difficult to ensure reelection, but it seemed a lot more difficult and intriguing than it does now in thegame. I MISS that! I actually lsot a few elections due to some bad empire managing and would like to (at least for the human) see this possibilitiy reentering the game.

As it stands now, the political game in my own empire only serves as a limiter to how much taxes I do and thats that- there's no guessing, or suddne sruprises in the election turn-out, it's jsut not... organic enough for me.

Anyway, *I* miss it.

I would tend to agree. I also wish the Senate did more than vote on declaring war... Then again, I'm a political junkie in general anyway, which is why I am waiting patiently for the Political Machine, having upgraded to Drengin.net to get the expansion pack AND PM... :)

Yeah, I'll pick up the PM too. I just miss GC's political game- it added more to the game (at least for me) than I think Brad knows- it really made my empire feel less "gamey" and more like I was intruding on a little mini-galaxy. Changing governements actually mattered for more than jsut the economy- it made you have to run things differently.

I'll third that. I'd like to see much more development of that area as well. There should be some jostling and infighting and deal making in the senate to do. That would be cool. But hard to put in now. Maybe in GC2.

Yeah GC2 maybe... but it WAS in GC- and it WAS fun- it got nerfed bigtime and I'd like some of it back...

I think adding something as simple as the senate voting for peace to end a war too- otherwise you gotta keep fighting... Orarbitrarily changing the tax rate a little when you're in the most "advanced" government form, so you suddenly don't have as much money- or they vote out of the blue to kill a trade route, etc...

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! I like the way is right now, no political mess in my hands. I like to fight no to sit down around tables drinking tea and eating bisquotis LOL LOL

I don't consider slaughtering my own citizens a tea party. I also like the challenge of trying to ensure a solid economical base in order to create the war juggernaut.

I frankly don't find the war element challenging enough unless I'm outnumbered 4-1 or more. And then it quickly becomes stupid. This game has some very intelligent foundations to its balance and I'd like to see some of it brought out more. Or at least modifiable at my end.

HEHE. Nothing was more frustrating than on the Civ games: "You are overruled in the senate. Action cancelled."

It's like AAAAAARRRRRRRGHHHH.!!!! Revolution time.

yeah, must confess, i miss it to. the constant, fearful checking to see how far away an election was. did it get nerfed, or is just that people play morale better??

I would also like more political intrigue. In particular I'd love to see individual planets react differently. Planets near empires who you are at war with should be more likely to support war candidates, etc. What I'd really love is that for the star federation option planets are almost autonomous and keeping the majority happy is very important. Constantly expanding your empire with no worry about your citizens is not as much fun. Loosing elections and having rebellions in the earlier development versions was a challenge.
