I guess I should check the treads I post in more frequently
Ralegh,
Thank you for that excellent Stanford University link, I've found it extremely useful
Wow. I honestly didn't expect this many replies. It's definitely good to know that I'm not alone here, though.

Zelqadas, you're definitely not alone

In fact if this post stayed on the front page long enough I think you might be suprised how large it would grow lol.
What's scary is I'm a production manager for a media company and work with graphics and art (layout, design, proofing, etc. etc.) all day long. To make troubles even worse I have to work on dual computers (PC & Mac) and 4 moniters jumping from RGB to CMYK constantly - aye yi yi

Star Devil Thrull,
I sympathize with you. My colorblindness was discovered during the development of a game. I constantly complained to the team that the values used to determine your chance of success for spellcasting and lockpicking needed adjustment. Eventually one of the team noticed I kept selecting the highest power level for casting, thus my spells would backfire, killing or heavily damaging my party. Since I couldn't distinguish between color shades for high and low power I was selecting in the reverse order heh. Thinking back on it, it's humerous now but wasn't at the time

Needless to say the game was altered to be colorblind friendly
I would not change any of the colors used right now; you'll help some people but make it worse for others. I'd hold off on any changes until you can simply add a palette option so users can pick whatever text color combinations they want.

SirBruce,
I would tend to agree with you. It may be best to hold off till a palette option is available. While there are some color choices which are likely to address the majority of people suffering they would not address everyone.
By the way, excellent analysis and data presentation of MMOG growth. I see it hasn't been updated in a few months, I hope you will add to it in the future. I referred a few developers to it

Still, having agreed with SirBruce, Star Devil Thrulls suggestion, below, has merit:
In the interim Cari could I suggest this scheme:
Swap yellow and use the red in it's place
Swap green and use the yellow in it's place
This would be have the net result of using Red for no, Yellow for yes and does not put red and green together
(for those who have true color blindness)
Red and yellow should be pretty obvious to most everyone

CariElf,
your offer to provide an edited version of the file to address the issue for those of us who wish to download it would be much appreciated but only if it wouldn't detract from your other more important tasks

Star Devil Thrulls suggestion of Red and Yellow should work fine as the two colors are quite diametrically opposed.
For those interested in the most common troublesome combinations here's a quote (I lost the link):
"For some color deficient individuals, the names red, orange, yellow, and green are simply different names for the same color. The same is true for violet, lavender, purple, and blue. Among the colors most often confused are pink/gray, orange/red, white/green, green/brown, blue green/gray, green/yellow, brown/maroon, and beige/green. Pastels and muted tones are difficult to distinguish."
Most people who suffer from some degree of color vision deficiency will tend to have trouble with some or all of those combinations either side by side or one on top of the other.
