The time have come for the Old Jedi Master to walk his own path. The Dark Side tried in vain to pull me down into the nets of the evil darkness. My friend and partner saw my struggle and with wisdom only found in a true friend, advised me to take the time to meditate in "The Light".

The truth was revealed to me, it is time to begin a new path, a path towards enligthment, the path toward the "Pure Light" of the good side.

Soi if you are one of those called by "The Light" to find the true path towards your growth as a "Master of The Light" come and join my empire.

Only true seekers of "The Light" will be allowed

He, he, I think that we all on this team have the same symptoms (wifenitis) or better said (wife looks at husband with wide open eyes and exclaims: What??? Are you still in the computer??? I have one almost done. I had to put it away last night for a while. Of course, it won't be a whole lot of points as I am not ready for the higher levels yet. I still have to work out strategies a bit better. Still too sloppy.... :notsure:

Terl let me know what area you need help with, remember trade, trade, trade specially make early contact with the minor civilizations, they pay more for the techs at the early stage of the game than the major races. ;)

I guess the parts I am still working on is mostly related to foreign relations. I have been working on, and getting better at, trading techs. I have not been good enough at getting BC's from the minors. What are just ballpark numbers to look for, are they smaller amounts over multiple turns or one lump sum? Which gets better results?

I am also working on running a more efficient economy. I am working at not overbuilding improvements like I have before, to try and prevent economic slump (stagnation) later in the game due to high maintenance costs.

Oh!! I have not yet been able to bribe anybody to attack anyone else. How many BC's can that take? What should I check first, before I ask them? I abandoned a game yesterday, that may have been winnable by others, where this tactic would have helped.

Just to get this straight: If I turn off cultural victory and win using culture bombs, is it still a military conquest? Also, if I turn off alliance what happens when all that is left is me and my ally? Do I just have to break the alliance and finish him off?

If you turn off cultural victory and win using cult bombs you will win by military conquest. When you turn off alliance and you during the game are allied, you could break the alliance and go for military conquest or the easy thing to do is to cultural bomb them and they will slowly flip to your side.

I usually at the beginning of the game, I try to get at least 100bc for as many months are possible, later during the game when this new minors pop up that the other AI's go after them quick to finish them up, what I do is to ask as much as they have for as long as they are willing to pay, usually like 450bc for 20 or 30 turns, remember they love for you to sell them wonders and techs.

In the lower levels you cannot bribe by money, you will have to have a big checking account but usually by giving them techs, another way to improve rlations with the AI's is to wait until they are at war and figure out who is the looser one, park some of your fleets close to rest of their planets and then go to the screen where the stronger is if you need to improve the relations with them and then tell them that you are declaring war to the one they are at war with and usually the relations improve 1 notch.

I learned this technique! The last game I posted I "took out" the Altarians completely without firing a shot. I was going for the Arceans but forgot I had alliance victory on so game over :notsure: but a win is a win I guess.

I guess my goal now, is to become confident on normal and then move it up a notch. I have been focusing on streamlining my economy and working on getting the tech order down for my play style.

When the UP has the resolution banning terror stars, is that it, if it passes? No terror stars? Just curious, as it says forever banned.

Terl watch out for anomalous scores if you trade too quickly with the other civs. if your empire coffers become too full too quickly, it will cause the game to 'trip' the anomalous button. If that happened your score would be zero, even if youd played the game for 10hrs and won!

If you start getting too big an amount of BC's, send a load to the weakest minor in return for influesnce points. that would help both you from getting an anomalous score, and the minor will love you for years. :)

Nope. I had a game where I had eight terror stars fully loaded with culture palaces and all. UP came and voted them out so my TSs just sat there for a long time acting like misplaced starbases. After about 100 turns or so, they started moving again and I proceeded to have a 13500 point military victory (I turned off the culture victory because military victory always gets more bang for the buck--in the metaverse anyway).

So, patience will bring them back.

if you get the up issue no terror stars it does end sometime.

PS my wife also moans about amount of time i spend on PC. so tend to play late into the night when she is asleep. 4hrs sleep a night is plenty for me.

I tend to get an hour or more, then take a break, sneak back later, take a break. Sometimes I will stay up a while too. I try to get a game a day or at least every other day submitted.

They just never understand the necessity of safeguarding the galaxy. LOL I know my wife cannot understand why I am so enthralled with GalCiv.

I don't think I get too close on this anyway. I am not sure where that breakpoint is, but, if anything, I am probably not making as much as I could. :notsure: I am probably giving stuff away, though I try to be cautious and keep playing with it so the text stays green. If it flips back to yellow, I tweak it some more.

My wife's favorite seems to be, "Are you playing that GAME again?" :p

To be honest, many times she's just happy that I'm not bothering her instead...and she's actually played a couple of games herself, the last one I didn't even coach her on what to do. She normally wins culturally, although she was fairly ruthless in her last game, kind of like her personality :)

I think that is too much right now for you to do both, come and join us and you can create the whole website and have your section for mods right here, you know that we enjoy making mods, I just repainted some of the polipartry images and now my Empire of The light party has green and red colors on his logo.
