Free ship problems

I have received 2 free ships during my current game from anamolies. Each time I was told that it was out of range and had to go into stasis and on autopilot to get it into range. The ships would just sit there, and I could not get them to move I would just get the same message over and over again. I finally had to disband them. Has anyone else experienced this before I report it in the bug thread. I am running 1.13.

I am still running 1.11 but I get this message all the time especially when I trade for freighters that are out of my range. Unless 1.13 is different, you have to autopilot the ships into range. The computer will not let you move except to move your "new ship" into range. Hope this makes sense. :)

The problem is I am doing something wrong or there is a bug. I cannot get the ship to move no matter what I did. They just sat there. I used to get that message and when I clicked on okay the ship would move to a point somewhere in range where I could then take control. This is not happening now. Am I supposed to do something special?

Hello,

This may be a bug, or just interpretation; I'm going to assume the latter.

When you select a ship (Terror Star, Scout, etc), check the mini-map in the top-right corner; the sectors of the grid which are "in range" of your empire should be highlighted in blue. You can fly this ship anywhere in the highlighted sectors.

You should have the ability to pilot a newly aquired ship to any location in your empire's range; your problem may be an attempt to move the ship manually using the arrow keys in an attempt to get into your empire, or, marking a destination which is outside your empire's range. A safe route is to set one of your planets as the destination of the new ship.

Best of luck with this on your next free ship!

It is looking like a bug to me. The ship is being acquired out of range of any planet I own for the class of ship found. I am than not able to move the ship into range in any fashion. Unless I am doing something wrong when I click on the pop-up informing me the ship is out of range and needs to put the crew into deep sleep and autopilot it into range, the ship should move into the first available in range sector which they would not do.

The message is misleading. The ship will not automatically move. You have to select the ship and right-click a destination that is in the ships range. Even though the message says the ship will be autopiloted, it will not move itself.

I had trouble with this at first too. Once the ship is selected, I move it back to one of my sectors. If I get the ship early, I use it to defend one of my systems. It will move to your own space.

Just click the ship and one of your planets and the ship will go there no matter that is out of range, but I think that you are using and old version, you should download Stardock and get the newest patch, I have not seen this issue in newest versions. ;)

I have the newest version of the game. I have also got Drengin.net and the beta of the expansion pack. So unless something is corrupted which I highly doubt, maybe I am just doing something wrong. Needless to say I could not get the ships to move no matter what I did. Oh well, I will have to see what happens when I get another one.

Oh and I am playing GalCiv and not the new expansion pack. I know this for sure so that is not my problem.

Try selecting the ship and sending it to one of your planets, or near one. This alwyas works for me...

If you still have the save game, e-mail it to me (both the .sav file and the corresponding folder if it's not the expansion pack) at mailto:[email protected]
