Verdict on 1.13- too many bugs to start a new long game?

Seems like some of the bugs in 1.13 are rather bad- even if you do the little minipatch as sugegsted by CariElf.

I've got it all set up to play a game, but don'trelaly want to invest hours and hours if t's still got some backbreaking bugs.

So, what is the verdict of you players? Go back a previous version or play a 1.13?

I am playing the version 1.13 and have not come across any bugs so far. So my option is to play, if you are tired of your empire, come and join the Empire of The Light. ;)

Well the tech sharing issue definitely seems to have been resolved by using the minipatch from CariElf. :) Haven't really played a lot in the recent past because of the holiday and catching up on all the sleep I missed during the semester. LOL Just started a new game in a huge galaxy (gotta make up for lost time..normally don't play bigger than large). Haven't found any bugs yet and hopefully I won't run into any problems.

I'm currently playing my 4th game with 1.13, and haven't noticed nothing so far that could make one of my campaigns unplayable. I hadn't played for a long time, and compared to what I had it's much better. I think it's worth a try.

However, it's true that I do not play marathon-style games ;)

I'm playing a Maso/Gigantic map now and the only bug I've experienced is the occasional invisible ship. If it bothers me too much I just save, exit GalCiv and then load the save. When it starts up, the ships are visible again. ;) I find that when I'm playing gigantic maps if I save and re-load about every 2½ to 3 years everything goes much smoother and faster. Clears the ram (I guess :notsure: )hence less lock ups and CTDs. It only takes a minute and saves a lot of aggravation in the long run. The fact is, I have less of these type problems with GalCiv than most of the other games I've played.

Note: If there are large numbers of ships I save and re-load more frequently. :HOT:

Where do I obtain the mini-patch???? I will only uses a patch that Stardock recommends, not any hacker's patch.

The thread where she describes the "fix" is here:http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?id=117859&BID=GF&page=1#118927 . And I definately would call it a hack, since it just changes the tech IDs to dance around the defect rather than fixing it. It's a Stardock-approved hack, though. ;)

Um . . . 1.13 brought me noting but grief . . . couldn't seem to click on several planets in my game (trade ships traped underneath them or something like that) . . . couldn't finish the game I was playing :notsure:

But it seems most people haven't had too many problems with it so far . . .

The fix as was described , was downloaded and applied as directed. I still can't load a saved game. So how is that making the game useable????

The fix solves two problems: 1) The lock-up that happened when the UP vote to share techs came up, 2) The incorrect prerequisites for Large Scale Building and Xeno Intimidation. If you're having some other problem, post in the appropriate bug report thread (1.13 or Altarian Prophesy beta, whichever you're using).

If it's a save game from a previous version, it's not entirely surprising that it's not working.  Someone made a change to the save game that wasn't backwards compatible.  It's generally a good idea to finish a game before upgrading just in case we had to change something that messes up the save game format.  In the expansion pack, I'm working on a more robust format that won't have as many problems.  I apparently haven't gotten all the bugs out of it yet, but I'm thinking that it may be something that only shows up in release versions since I didn't have any problems with loading save games while I was testing.
