If you go to this website you can find everything there http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/Starbase.htm

If you are looking for an empire to join come and join The Empire of The Light. ;)

Thanks, JavaScout's page is indeed very helpful.

Other treads in the strategy forum speak of 13 or 15 BC. On JacaScout's page it is 10 BC.

Frogboy even talked about inventing a maintenance cost per module ... I hope this is not invented yet?

Information like this should be somewhere in the game interface. At least this is a good idea for GC2, isn't it!?

OT: I would love to join an empire, but currently I play on a computer without internet access. Only my home office computer has internet access, but not my gaming computer ;) Thus I can't submit Metaverse scores (:(

I don't want to change that because games require Windows and I don't dare to open my network to the hazardous environment with something insufficient like that :HOT: I only connect my stand alone machine to get updates via Stardock Central. I don't have a work around for this yet.

If you are willing to connect for updates why not submit to metaverse? If you are using your stand alone pc to play, just finish the game. If you want to post, connect to internet, restart GalCiv and load your end game save. Post your game (need active internet connection on for screen to show) on the metaverse, log off, and disconnect from internet. You should have no ill effects from that short term upload. :)

I use dial-up and when my game finishes and I get to the summary screen, I alt-tab to the desktop, log in to internet, alt-tab back to the game, and post my score. The metaverse makes the game even more fun, IMHO.

hello,
can I use this post for a few questions ? :)

what is the maintenance cost of DeathStars ? I read somewhere 100 bc, is it right ?

if I build an improvement on a planet I expect the spending to go up the amount of the improvement's maintenance, e.g. : I build a stadium, http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/Stadium.htm the spending for the planet should increase by 2 bc, and the profits from the planet increase 5%, but things seem different, spending increases much more, and profits aren't exactly 5%

also, if I put 5B people on a planet I expect the profits (taxes) to increase of a proportional amount, but nothing happens

don't know if I made me clear ...

Morale is a big factor in how profit a planet is, you must check your morale for that particular planet, too much people and your moral goes down and the profit becomes a deficit.

Profits will not go up 5%. What should happen is that it will go up by 5% of the base tax income (which is less than the total tax income if you have any other economic % bonuses). Then there's the capping effect, which means that beyond a certain level (related to planet quality) new people and new economic bonuses only make a very small difference. Stadiums are still worth building because of the significant morale bonus.

I don't think morale directly affects tax income, though it can affect population growth which will improve tax income in the long run.

If you visit the following link you will find a lot of useful information http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/

I do actually think moral has a direct effect on tax income. I believe this can be seen by rasing the tax level at some point you will see your tax income decreasing (eventhough you are raising your taxes)

thanks for the link, already visited :D

the working of morale is a mistery for me, but I think the "capping effect" is even more puzzling

I tend to low taxes / sell techs to avoid deficit / research for morale bonus improvements and so on

another point : a planet with 30 B people, I take away 5B of them on a combat transport, morale was 100% at the beginning, it stays 100%, I only lose some production points, but if I ever put them back on the planet the morale falls to 80% even 70% - it depends

planets with a big population have a better morale than planets with a small population and same improvements (same class ?) - conquered planets, that is

morale seems to stabilize after a while ?

thanks for your help

Thats not moral, thats just common sense. If you over tax, people will start to cheat on their taxes enmass or just be taxed out of business. This is true RL too, something some politicians can't grasp, but you can make MORE money as a govt at times by lowering taxes.

My experience is that I can raise taxes to 90% and sometime higher if the approval rating is 100%. Approval rating is tied to morale, i.e. as approval goes up, morale goes up and as approval goes down, morale goes down. My strategy is to raise taxes to the level of approval I want at the particualr time in the game.

That also depends on the PQ (planet quality), imagine ... a planet is a tad overcrowded, but they have learnt to live with it, you take a percentage off, the peeps living there can move again, so if you put the percentage back again and the PQ is fairly low, like lower than 18, than they would not be happy campers as they would all have to go back to bunk beds if you see what i mean.
Morale is something that always needs to be kept above eighty really IMO, otherwise growth rates are too slow (yes you can use transports / combat transports / colony ships to distribute the peeps evenly but that is VERY fiddly), if growth is down , tax and manufaturing are effected in a bad way, at the lower game levels its not so important but ive found that new strategies are needed as you tweak the levels higher, you need BC and manufacturing at a fair to good rate from the start otherwise the AI uses you as a doormat :D

i'm actually using combat transports to raise morale on some colonies, at a certain point population growth seems so high that i HAVE TO get rid of some of them, otherwise morale and production go down

depending on PQ, between 30B and 50B i have to start either building transports or morale bonus improvements

i think it is a good thing, as my colonies seem to grow really faster than the AI's ones

i'm looking forward to finishing this game, i chose a universe too large, it's a long game and i want to pass on to the next difficulty level

Can anyone comment on this. I did not find anything about specila cost for terror stars. You add the modules, pay 5000 BY and that's it?! i.e. you have 10BC maintenance?!

I see your point (especially the RL thing - I live in Denmark my average tax percent is around 55% - go figure)

but i actually think that you tax raise tax as long as it doesn't brings morale below 100% without hurting your tax-base. Kind of like in real life (if i had free-beer i wouldn't mind paying taxes as much as i do LOL )
