I usually started my games ballanced (32/33/35)
Colony ships with 1000m colonists.
first col. built scout before a survey
spreding colonyships with at least 500m man.
after getting deflectors building two defenders each system.
alyays trying to keep a positiv cashflow, adding trade.
exchange techs from minors ans sell them to the majors if possible.

Thanks Sirian, we think its all fixed now though fingers crossed, while on the subject there will be a new article appearing soon on the Jedi Republic website on how to create your own and avoid any technical glitches.......Watch this space :)
