A funny thing happened...

A funny thing happened today as I was playing a round of GalCiv. Though it's not particularly funny to me I am sure all of you will get a kick out of it...

So there I was last night proud as ever. I finally finished a game and made the submission. Sure enough there it was. Sure it was a Medium galaxy in simple mode but none the less my first and with a 3200+ point score for a Cultural Victory. I fire off another game and think what the heck... I will bump it up a notch...

Now normally I like to play the big scenarios when I play Civ or RRTII I select America and roll the clock back to 1830... I mean I am in for the laung haul.

But I am running small games as they will develope quicker so I can learn the game rather than investing several attempts with days of playing to get to the point of figuring what I am doing wrong I am running several games over a couple nights...

Well like I said I decided I was feeling cocky since I'd put the spank on the old AI so bad. I was even thinking of changing my nic to AISpankFest or AISpankMaster... you know something good like that to really let the world know my achievements and abilities. Well I have to confess that I just just forced myself to crawl back out from under the covers from the spankin I took a couple hours ago.

So I thought I would relate my experience to you all...

Enjoy. From personal expereince as the games spankee, the gap between highest AI level & next level down is huge!! I found from simple to crippling fairly incremental but to maso was/is ballistic in nature.

I can relate to that! :D

I play small to medium, after a few games at "normal" I said to myself: "You have it nailed down. let's go up: crippling".
Well suffice to say, I never walk quite the same after the spank I had :sniff!:

Went back to lower levels, and decided to go up une by one (what I'm still doing). 2 days ago, I said I can control my phobia, let's try again!. Cripling/medium. It took about 30 minutes, and I could see my ships in shambles and a whole Drengin and Yor invasion fleet armed with lots of devices to give me a new proper spank! Well not this time! I decided to give myself up to the Altarians: I considered that since they're pure good, a spanking from them would hurt less ;p .
Well not at all. All those pesky alien perverts!
I'm back to playing painful...
