Need some advice on making trades...

I keep getting contacted by the other civilizations that they want to trade for my tech. So I say I agree. There are times I will have one or two techs listed and the other guy has three or four. I try to make a trade and he will not accept any offer unless it is free or at most I can sell for a hundred or so credits.

Can someone tell me what I am missing in this... Usually my trade percentage is good and I get the little message in parens saying something positive in my favor.

Thanks in advance,

I believe that a lot of it comes down to your diplomatic abilities. if you research diplomacy and other ones like that, you should get a better 'deal'. there are other factors involved too, like trade and alignment.

Hope this helps a bit.

Some techs are worth far more than others and the AI values them not just on how long they take to research but what the techs allows you to build, for example the AI doesn't like to trade deflectos at ny point in the game despite the fact that it is a fairly cheap tech.

Good Luck

Every civilization has a different cup of tea. It takes a few games to learn which civs want what and what the true value of the techs are. In general, aliens don’t like to give up weapons technology. And... lemme see... I read through the unofficial guide ( http://www.orionsector.com/pages/galciv/downloads/The_Unofficial_GalCiv_Strategy_Guide_v1_0.doc ) a few times before I got a handle on more difficult AIs. This document might be a little out of date.

Also, if you didn’t know already, the text turns from yellow to green when you have an acceptable offer (I wasted loads of time before I learned such a simple thing :p ).
