Confused Newbie (Bunch of questions)

To modify your profile you must go to wincustomize.com, you log there using the same login you have here and then you go to edit account and there you can edit your profile.

The games score is a little bit tricky is not the sume of both of your scores, it has some kind of percent thing that combines both scores and then you get the total, I am not good at explaining it. Seems that you were playing tiny, don't know if something went wrong that got posted your small as tiny.

1 - The Metaverse is... slightly unstable.
2 - The Metaverse scoring has been adjusted and the game doesn't reflect the changes (it's still close though).
3 - The calculation for the total score is complicated. Do you really want to risk insanity?
4 - I don't know of a document that summarizes all of the changes. It's better to use the search option in this forum and read through threads.
5 - I put it in my Favorites for quick access.
6 - Shalom is right.

3) As far as i remember the your scores are divided into blocks of 30 days. For each of those blocks the score is summarized and divided by the squareroot of the number of games in that block. The points in each block "ages" 5% each month

4) To the best of my knowledge there is no direct link between the score summary in the end of the game and your metaverse score.

Umm...Metaverse hiccup? I recall at least one person mentioning this before, but it's a rare issue - hopefully, it won't happen to you again for some time...



The scores at the end of the game are shown in "raw" points AND Mpoints (Metaverse Points). Basically, after calculating the score for your finished game, it is adjusted by a multiplier based on the game difficulty to come up with the actual number of Metaverse points.



In what we assume is an attempt to reward BOTH the occasional player AND those who submit games on a daily basis, your Metaverse profile is set up to bring diminishing returns from fast submissions. Kit's right - it's a headache to do the math - but in a nutshell:
- All of your games are broken down into 30-day "blocks;"
- First game in a block is worth full points (in your case, your first submission);
- The Mpoints score for each additional game in a block is divided by the square root of the number of games in that block;
- Each block is "aged" on a monthly basis - either 10% or 20%, depending on which screen you're looking at.

If you're REALLY curious as to how this works, the mighty Primipilus Alexus of the Centurions Empire has developed an Excel spreadsheet that's accurate to within a point or two. The link is on his thread, which is almost always on Page 1 or 2 of this Forum.



Good question. In general terms, the game rewards you for finishing the tech tree, having a solid economy, a strong military, etc. with additional Metaverse points. I admit I've never seen a calculator posted here that will reproduce the computations. Anybody have any ideas?



Your profile page is accessible pretty much anywhere you see your name, whether it be in a thread, on the Metaverse ranking page, on an Empire membership page, etc. These occurrences are hotlinks that bring up the same profile page.



Shalom is right - your profile is accessible through wincustomize.com. You'll need to log on using your normal galciv.com login, and choose the "Edit Account" option from the navbar. CAUTION - your submission "alias" is linked to your "player name" ("Phemur") while your NICKNAME is the only thing that shows up here (in your case, also "Phemur"). These do not have to be identical. If you change your nickname, the new one will show up in posts, on the Metaverse, etc.; but to avoid problems, DON'T change your player name, and keep submitting as "Phemur." More than one game has been lost forever because of confusion on this topic.

I noticed one more factor - resubmitting a game. I total dorked up my score by resubmitting a game 5 months later just out of curiosity and my score is still 10,000 points less than it should be. Curiosity kills Kit!

Does anybody know how resubmissions are handled ? Do they keep the original date ?

Yes - else it would be a simple matter to wreak complete havoc with your points totals, as every game is elibible for one re-submit.

Citizens, meanwhile, feel that the U.S. government is entitled to "diddly squat," particularly as they don't seem to spend those tax dollars on anything except congressional golf outings, grants to foreign countries, and bombs. Certainly not on that d#$*!!!! highway fifty feet from your home that's been under "repairs" for five years with no end in sight.

As with all negotiations with the government, "compromise" is necessary to equate these conflicting points of view. In this case, "compromise" involves working out a deal to allow you to retain the aforementioned firstborn child and thanking the IRS for their kindness and gentleness as they ream your savings account.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still interested in figuring out how the scoring works. I've just won a military conquest, destroying all in my path and taking relatively few casualties (compared to my vanquinshed enemies), yet my military score was 299, compared to 2000+ for economic and social scores.

I'm sure the scoring makes sense once you understand it, but right now, it's very mysterious.
