More Newbie Questions for Galactic Technology Experts

Greetings!

I'm running my first game as an evil empire, and my goal is to acheive a military victory. To acheive this end, my researchers are focused on military technology.

As I was trying to determine the path to Dreadnought technology, I noticed that I could research Hyperwarp. Without it, I can't get Large Scale Building, and from what I can tell, all ships beyond Battleships are unavailable to me.

Is this right? Seems like an awfully big limitations on evil players. Do they have any military techology to counter this?

This is a bug in version 1.13.

There is a fix for it here :

Hope it helps :)

I believe that a couple of the tech tree prerequisites were distorted in the latest update to the game. Rest assured that evil empires SHOULD be able to develop Dreadnought tech. You may want to check out the bug reports threads for a "fix."

If you don't feel comfortable poking around with your game files, you can always trade for HyperWarp with another civ, getting you over the hump. For that matter, you could trade for the military techs directly, although AIs will ask an absurdly high price for even obsolete military techs. Like, 86 other techs and a PLANET for "Deflectors."

Most of the alignment-specific techs aren't military.

Edit: That's what I get for taking my time with a reply - check Aaberg's link.

I'm afraid i don't have the same ability as you, to explain things properly.

Considering the fact that I used generalities, and you provided a solid fix in fewer words, I think you're doing just fine... :)

I downloaded the patch from the link posted above, and it fixed the problem; Large Scale Building was now available.

I still didn't get to the dreadnoughts, but at least it showed up in my list of things to research.
