I-League wiped out all my ships

With just one research topic left, the I-League decided they needed more breathing room, I thought they weren't going to make a decision in who was going to win. Just about had Godlike abilities. I was the leader in trade with over 1000bc a month. Had 6 Overlords. I-Leagues Overloads had hitpoints of around 600! Mine were only 125. They burned me easily. Does anyone know how this could be avoided?

Become their friends, trade with them as soon as they appear and they will not turn against you. Also try to improve your alignment from evil to neutral or good.

I was trading with them. They were at war with the Drengin and I asked them to make peace, could that peace treaty have made them mad? :notsure:

Usually they always turn against those with evil alignment, I never had a problem with them when my alignment is good or neutral.

The I-Leage were requesting for a tech trade, which I turned down several times. They appeared to watch my Ranger with their 2 mega dreadnoughts. My military at that time was minimal but the I-League was godlike already. I think they wanted my espionage and give me soldier something. I just hope I don't have too worry about minor races while worrying about ai's. ;p

Try to always have the minor races on your side, if they ask you for trading techs, do it, they are not the ones you have to worry about, they are your cash cows, so be smart and always try to have them on your side, as soon as they appear trade with them and they will be your friends.

In my game I was on the good side of neutral and had never had any dealings with them.

I have raised the level of difficulty to tough and sometimes painful, I have noticed that if you start to trade with the minors early in the game, you will never have trouble with them, everytime that they appear in the map go and trade with them and you will never have difficulties with them.

You don't need to fear of trading with the minor civilizations, with the major just pay close attention to what they are offering sometimes you get some good deals. ;)

You can also reject the deal and then make a counter offer for something else. The minors really are a good source of cash. Trade tech for cash, or tech for tech plus cash. There are many good deals to be had using the minors.

All I know is that the minors have gotten real powerful in the latest versions of the game. In my last game, I was easily the most powerful major race in the galaxy, and I was battering down my last enemy (Arceans), when their Fundementalist allies declared war on me and started destroying my trade ships with their quite powerful Overlords. My Avatars were little match for them. I kept having to buy peace with the minor in order to defeat the much weaker major!

So far I have played only one game where the minor got powerful and there were the Fundamentalist that appear very late in the game and took over almost all the Drenging planets, I inmediately sold them some of my wonders and they became neutral towards me for the rest of the game, no problem with them, they started a war againt the Altarians and I gave them some ships and they went from neutral to friendly and they remained that way until the end of the game when they finished all the other races.

In my latest game the I leaugue popped up as a randomly generated race. The speed they sprung up from obscurity was frightening. I was engaged in a long standing war to gether with just about everyone against the Drengin and Yor. Nothing I could do would keep the I Leugue friends with me because I was pure good and they were nuetral. I left them alone and without warning the traitors attacked me dragging the torians and the girly minor race (forgot name) both my allies into war with me. My tech and manufacturing capital Aquilae promtly defected beacause of a massive deficit caused be disrupted trade a it defected to my enemies the I leugue. I took it back with mass drivers and destroyed the planets tech capital (capitals can't be rebuilt) even though I lucky about planet damage but it seriously leaves me in a mess.

I find that if a minor gets that powerful, the best way to defeat them is by invasion. Their soldiering ability seems to remain fairly low, even though the ships are very powerful. Destroy the system's defences with AMMs, and usually a small invasion force will do the job. ;)
