Stardock or Patch????

Hi, I have a dial-up connection (:( and wanted to know what is the better way to update GalCiv. Is Stardock's update just as updated as the 1.1 patch? The version is up to 1.13, so is the patch on this website the most update out there? Thanks!

P.S.-- I have been browsing this forum, so don't try to suck me into any of your cool clans/empires! I have not enough time (:( .

The version on the website is 1.10, the version on Stardock Central is 1.13. There's probably a new version in the not too distant future, too. Everything is available on Stardock Central first. 1.10 hasn't been the most recent for weeks.

The Download section on the GalCiv site is for major uodates only, the 'Expanded Universe' free expansion is on there that brings the version to 1.10. All patches are only available through Stardock Central, your best bet is to download all th updates through that. Once you are up to 1.13, vist http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=117859#118483 our lady with the lamp CariElf has made a fix for us as there are a few 'undocumented features' (read : BUGS) in 1.13, just follow her wise words and instructions and you will be ready to conquer the galaxy :D

Have Fun :)

Yep :) Invite only, one day someone might ask to join , i can hope :D I did try once but the evil empire empire flame grilled my post so i went back to playing GC, it more a signature now than an invite !!!

I do too. I used Stardock Central and everything went quite quickly even with the dial-up. It is the best way, IMHO, to upgrade and the stand alone patches always lag behind the updates available on SDC.

Ok, thanks, but how do you resume downloads after they are lost due to connection drop? My connection is sometimes unreiable, and would not want to be at 11.2MB of 11.3MB and have it all be lost :sniff!: .
Does it autoresume when you start it up again? If not, you developers at StarDock have a new feature to release. ;)

Resumes automatically. I once downloaded the entire game (minus the multimedia) over a 28.8 connection.

Thanks, starting download...

It's about 90MB. 90MB divided by 28.8kb/s is 25 hours. I didn't clock it, but I think it took about four days.
